Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management(VJIM) was set up by the Vignana Jyothi educational society in 1992. Vignana Jyothi is registered as a non-profit educational society under the Societies Act. Vignana Jyothi manages five educational institutions including VJIM. The society has eminent personalities like Padmasree Dr. Karkarla Subba Rao, Dr. Rama Naidu, film producer, Dr. D. N. Rao, promoter of X_Design Ventures, Sri. Narne Prabhakar, Sri K. Harish Chandra Prasad, who were former presidents of FAPCCI, Sr. D. Ashok, Chairman, Navbharat Ventures, Sri. Raja Rama Mohana Rao, Chairman, SEW Constructions and many other successful industrialists and philanthropists as members. The institute is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.

VJIM provides learning opportunities for the making of all-round managers with strong moorings in Indian management ethos. It is an autonomous institute approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), Ministry of HRD, Government of India for awarding a two-year Post Graduate Diploma in Management(PGDM), PGDM(Marketing), PGDM(General Management) and PGDM(Business Economics). The institute is reputed for its rigorous academic standards and quality of interactive methods of education, structured in world-class patterns. The approved intake is 300 students for full-time programmes per year.
VJIM is rated as one of the best governed B-Schools, at par with IIMs and XLRI. In 2011, VJIM was ranked in the A1 category(1st B-School in AP and 19th Best B-School in the country (AIMA-Business Standard , Indian Management, June, 2012). In terms of infrastructure, campus and technology support, VJIM is rated amongst the top institutes in the country. It is ranked 20th in infrastructure(physical and academic) by CSR-GHRDC B-School survey.

The B-School is situated in the serene environment in the outskirts of Hyderabad, a fast growing Indian metropolis surrounded by commercial and industrial hubs which provides a great learning potential. The institute boasts of a pan-India student base.
