What does MAT test in a candidate?
MAT is an objective type test (with multiple choice answers) conducted four times a year in the months of September, December, February and May. The test design is as follows:
| Section Name | Number of Questions |
| Language Comprehension | 40 |
| Mathematical Skills | 40 |
| Data Analysis and Sufficiency | 40 |
| Intelligence and Critical Reasoning | 40 |
| Indian and Global Environment | 40 |
How does MAT different from other MBA entrance exams?
The major difference is in terms of the institutes which take these test scores. The overall difficulty level of MAT test is not very high in comparison with CAT or XAT. As far as the structure is concerned all these tests are different but they all revolve around English, Mathematics, Data Interpretation, Data sufficiency, Logical Reasoning and in some cases General Awareness.
Prep Strategy for MAT 09
Revise your concepts in next 20 days, solve as many questions as possible. Last forty days mainly concentrate on improving your test taking skills. Do not take too many tests, 10 to 12 tests with a thorough analysis must be sufficient. What is more important is that you should analyse your performance in each and every test and use the learning to improve your performance in the next test.
Do not try too many different strategies. Understand that you cannot use someone else's strategy to crack the MAT. You need to build your own strategy based on your strengths and weaknesses
It is practically impossible to attempt 200 questions in 150 minutes. So it is important for you to skip question which you are not confident of. Try to keep yourself updated with current affairs by reading a daily newspaper and business magazines. This will not only help you increase your General Knowledge but also will help you to improve your reading skills which are extremely important in a test like MAT.
