IIFT 2016 result is expected to be declared shortly with 1500 candidates in the shortlist
Change of sectional weightage to the components in IIFT 2016 exam, it is expected that an overall score of 55 will be awarded 99 percentile while sectional cut offs will be as low as 48% marks

Delay in IIFT 2016 exam result declaration appears to have been caused due to absence of Director of this coveted management institute. Dr Surajit Mitra quit as Director IIFT, 8 months prior to completion of his tenure in the month of November 2016. The appointment of new director, IIFT is under process. Indian Institute of Foreign trade (IIFT) has the history of declaring its entrance exam result in the middle of December every year. It is very rare that IIFT deviates from the assigned dates.

It is expected that around 1500 candidates out of approximate 45000 test takers in IIFT 2016 entrance test for admission to MBA (IB) 2017-19 will be shortlisted for GD/PI round. Going by the past trends and due to the twist in change of sectional weightage to the components in IIFT 2016 exam, it is expected that an overall score of 55 will be awarded 99 percentile while sectional cut offs will be as low as 48% marks.

IIFT proposes to announce the entrance exam result shortly in next 2-3 days and in all probability by the close of this week. It takes 20 to 25 days for IIFT to declare its entrance exam result every year. During the last 2 years IIFT entrance exams were held on November 22 or 23 and the results were declared within less than a month’s time around December 15. The IIFT aspirants should now get ready to view their result next week.

IIFT 2016 MBA (IB) entrance test for admission session 2017-19 was held today on Nov 27, 2016 as paper based test from 10AM to 12Noon in 20 test cities across the country. Around 45000 candidates appeared in the IIFT 2016 entrance exam. As happened in the past, the exam had moderate to high difficulty level and with short time limit to complete the test comprising too many questions, candidates could not attempt many questions despite knowing their answers.

Cut offs to remain low: Weightage changed
With a changed IIFT written exam, it is expected that your low sectional score will not be a hurdle in crossing the cut offs.  The weightage awarded to each section was – 36.5% on LRDI; 31% on VARC; 20% on Quant and 12.5% on General Awareness.

The 120 minutes test was found to contain moderate to difficult questions. Most of the candidates couldn’t solve more than 50 to 60% of the questions strengthening the percentile predictions that despite scoring low in each section, test takers will be awarded high percentile.

Total number of questions in IIFT 2016 exam was 123 as against last year where 124 questions were placed in the exam. The weightage to LRDI section was increased to 36.5% in IIFT 2016 from 33% in IIFT 2015.

General Awareness (GK) section in IIFT exam has always been a hard nut to crack. The number of GK questions has been reduced to 25 in IIFT 2016 from 28 in IIFT 2015. The weightage to GK section was also reduced from 14% to 12.5% as 0.50 mark is awarded to each correct answer in this section. As the cut-off in the GK section remains very low, in IIFT 2016 the cut off is expected to remain less than 1 mark as it was only 0.82 mark last year.
