Common Entrance Test (CET), the entrance exam for B-schools affiliated to Maharashtra University, was held on February 17, 2008.

The pattern of CET 08 was same as last year's exam and is being evaluated by experts as "easy". The 150 minutes long paper had a total of 200 questions and the maximum marks possible were 200. MBAUniverse.com Aspirants Zone presents a review.

The 150 minutes long paper had a total of 200 questions. The paper had the questions based on Problem Solving, Data Interpretation, Verbal Ability & Verbal Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Logical Reasoning and Visual Reasoning. One significant point was that the paper was jumbled as there were no separate sections. There was no negative marking in the paper.

How do leading test prep institutes including Mumbai based IMS Learning Resources Ltd, Hyderabad based Triumphant Institute of Management Education (TIME), Delhi based Career Launcher analyze the paper?

According to the institutes, the paper was easier than last year's test. IMS Learning says, "The Verbal Ability, Verbal Reasoning and Reading Comprehension questions were very simple. Compared to 2007, CET 2008 was easier mainly because there were fewer number of questions on Verbal Reasoning and they were of a lower level of difficulty".

According to TIME, "CET 08 stuck to last year's pattern; as far as Quant was concerned. Verbal Reasoning was much easier. The number of questions was reduced, and the difficulty came down to levels which made the candidates rather happy".

What will be the expected cut-offs of top four B-schools in Maharashtra University?

According to Career Launcher, "All in all, a score of 140+ will suffice to get into Mumbai based Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS), If you have notched up 132+, then you have a very decent chance of getting into Sydenham Institute of Management Studies, Research and Entrepreneurship Education (SIMSREE), KJ Somaiya Institute of Management Studies and Research (SMISR) and Welingkar Institute of Management."

On the other hand, TIME expects the overall cut-offs of 143+ of JBIMS, 140+ for SIMSREE and 137+ for SIMSR and Welingkar Institute of Management.
