CAT 2016 result is scheduled to be declared in next 3-4 days despite a late exam this year. Responding to the MBAUniverse.com query whether it will delay the process of IIMs since CAT 2016 has been shifted in the month of December, Prof Rajendra K Bandi, Convener CAT 2016 and admission chair at IIM Bangalore confirmed “There will be no delay in the admission process of the IIMs. The results for CAT 2016 are also tentatively scheduled to be announced in the 2nd week of January, as was the case with CAT 2015.”
It may be noted that the result for CAT 2015 was declared on January 8, 2016, on the very 1st day of 2nd week of January 2016.
CAT 2016 was held 5 days late than CAT 2015. While CAT 2015 was held on November 29, 2015, the CAT 2016 was held on December 4, 2016. Accordingly, the anticipation was that the result declaration for CAT 2016 might also be delayed but with the confirmation by the exam convener, it appears that CAT 2016 result will be declared on time between January 8 to 10, 2017.
No access to CAT website as Existing User
IIMs have closed the access to CAT 2016 website as Existing users to login to view their Application details or Admit card since December 27 as the activity to process the CAT 2016 result is going on.
However CAT 2016 exam convener Prof Bandi is of the view that since the difference between the schedules for CAT 2016 and CAT 2015 is just 5 days (December 4th this year vs November 29th last year), anticipating any delay in CAT 2016 result declaration is unfounded.
Expect the CAT 2016 result in 3 days
It is expected that CAT 2016 result would be declared in next 3 days just with the beginning of the second week of January 2017. The second week would begin after January 7 and therefore the result can be out any day between January 8 to 10, 2017.
No technical issues
It appears that the technical glitches that held back the CAT result in many earlier exams and delayed it, have been overcome while processing the CAT 2016 result and there are no technical issues this year due to which the result for CAT 2016 is proposed to be declared earlier than the announced date.

CAT 2016 result processing requires 100% accuracy and should offer glitch free access to the result. The site may remain closed for some time before the declaration of CAT 2016 result for the obvious reason to upgrade it to provide glitch free simultaneous access to 1.95 lakhs CAT 2016 test takers on the result day.
Thousands of IIM aspirants have been approaching MBAUniverse.com to know about the exact date of CAT 2016 result declaration. CAT Centre 2016 has shared that the result would be declared in the second week of January 2017.
In fact the aspirants are worried if there is something fishy at the CAT Centre 2016 as it has not yet been able to announce the date of result declaration.
