Akash Sethi: Senior Manager Yes Bank
Mr. Akash Sethi, batch 2008-10 presently works as a senior manager at Yes Bank. He felt quite nostalgic coming back to Nirma after such a long time. Being an avid sports lover, he was delighted to look at the verdant green sports ground that was not there during his days at Nirma. As a student, he was greatly involved in various sports activities. He believes that participating in sports helps one to learn the qualities of team work and leadership which helps one to grow as a manager. Being a B.Com graduate, he feels that Nirma provided him with ample opportunities that gave him a platform to learn. This exposure helps him even today, both in life and at work.

Anup Eringhikal: Extraordinary journey at Nirma
"I remember IMNU fondly for two things: for giving me a holistic perspective on life and about business, and for exposing me to highly accomplished individuals, many of whom remain dear friends even today. IMNU played a significant role in helping me discard my “tunnel” vision of a fresh engineer, and sparked an enduring interest in the way the human element of resources contribute to both the success and decline of an organization.

A green campus, a diverse set of batch mates, inspiring faculties imparting quality training through case based methodology and enormous opportunities for personal development in numerous club & committee activities – all these made my two years at IMNU an extraordinary journey." These are the words of Anup Eringhikal of batch 2010-12.

Prabhat Vijh: Senior functionary at Tata AIG
Mr. Prabhat Vijh is working as zonal underwriter for Tata AIG General Insurance since Feb 2013. He has over 6 years of industry experience working with SBI General Insurance as Sr Manager Retail and ICICI Prudential as distribution expansion manager of Gujarat. He has been a valuable alumnus, providing valuable insights to the academic structure of Nirma time and again.

Mr. Vijh has been visiting Nirma since past few years and always felt happy with reinstated sense of pride every time he visited the campus.

Since Mr. Vijh has switched over organizations with banking at its core, IMNU held a brief interview of Prabhat and asked him what is the banking scenario prevailing today and how Nirma through its curriculum can cater to industry expectations. Relating with today’s scenario of banking and insurance agencies, he said that insurance agencies provide various products to the banking sector while banks on the other side look for products that are reliable and customer driven. With market growing as steady as ever, the opportunities are immense with more and more banking and insurance companies coming up in recent years. What Nirma can do is provide a specialization course in insurance to bridge the gap between corporate demands and educational aspect of learning the subject.

With varied portfolio, IMNU further asked him about the aspects he considered necessary in the field of banking to grow. To this he replied that stable growth was the primary objective when switching over organizations over the years. But the changing trends in the area of management and technical expertise were other substantial reasons that made him travel from ICICI to TATA AIG. Insurance is all about managing people and he had always liked to do so.

The interview with Mr. Prabhat Vijh was quite valuable that provided deep insights in banking and insurance sectors prevailing currently.

Vishal Thakkar: MD at Tridha – entrepreneurship venture
Mr. Vishal Thakkar, the Founder and MD at Tridha Advisors Pvt. Ltd. belongs to the batch 1999-2001. He has previously worked at Essar Investments LimitedShell Hazira LNG and PortCenter for Environment Planning and Technology and Crisil Research.

Mr. Thakkar keeps visiting the campus on a regular basis and had last visited it only two months back. Since he has switched over industries, IMNU asked him about the impact it has on one’s career. To this he replied that changing industries is okay when you do it at the same horizontal level, not vertically. He also added that working at different industries gives one the opportunities to work at different domains and learn more.

He said that he is quite interested in the field of mergers and acquisitions. He has done an MDP program in the same from IIM–Ahmedabad. He said that he finds a difference in culture of both Nirma and IIM-A. Both have their own good points.

His startup, Tridha Advisors Pvt. Ltd., specializes in investment banking, private equity, venture capital and project finance. We asked him the reason why he started his own venture. He said that it was his personal choice to start it. Also, he said that one should go for a startup when one feels that it is the right thing to do.

Aisha Kumar: MBA student 2016-18
Miss Aisha Kumar is currently a student of IMNU, batch 2016-18. She believes that IMNU provides her a platform to develop her overall personality that is important for an MBA graduate. She says that apart from the curriculum, the co-curricular and extra-curricular activities help her a lot. “The guest lecture series that is organized for us every week is a great opportunity for us to interact with CEOs and other managers of renowned companies. This helps us get a taste of the current industry trends”, she adds. According to her, the large number of student driven clubs and committees that IMNU has, helps the students learn practical aspects of management which will be of use to them in later parts of their lives. “The pedagogy that the teachers follow here, is mix of both theory and practice. This is another value addition to what we learn in class”, she said.
