It was a great session throughout the 90 minutes where Mr. Ronnie kept all of us enthralled through his amazing feedback on a few business ideas and his quick wit.

Mr. Ronnie Screwvala agreed to spend an evening with BizOrion participants of JBIMS as a result of an incredible gesture from Dr. Kavita Laghate, JBIMS who enabled this mentoring session for the students. It was great to have our chief mentor, Mr. Arun Sehgal (Chairman, Chempro Group) along with us for the session.

Every participant was excited to meet Mr. Screwvala and thrilled when the session started at 7 pm at Mr. Ronnie’s office. The hospitality extended by Mr. Ronnie’s office to all of us visiting was very warm.

It was a great session throughout the 90 minutes where Mr. Ronnie kept all of us enthralled through his amazing feedback on a few business ideas and his quick wit.

The questions posed by participants were related to their business ideas and few were generic questions on entrepreneurship, leadership, etc.

It was highly appreciative of Mr. Ronnie to gauge the ideas of students in a matter of seconds while he/she asked their question and helped them with the answer and his honest feedback coupled with words of wisdom and encouragement.
While answering the questions, Mr. Ronnie spoke of the essential qualities that an entrepreneur should possess – ‘guts’ which encompasses clarity of thought, focus, etc. and what essentially differentiates smart from ‘really smart’.

The array of questions posed were related to a plethora of sectors – E-commerce, Hospitality, Agriculture and Farming, Education, Renewable Energy, Fitness, East being the new West of the World and so on.

A few words of wisdom which really hit a chord with all the participants are:

‘Failures are indications of learnings and pay much more later’
‘Failure is a comma, not a full stop’

Mr. Ronnie also shared his views on the Make in India, Start Up India initiatives of our government.

Prof. Arun Sehgal shared his views on BizOrion as an amazing initiative of JBIMS and how this as an ecosystem can grow. We were more than happy that we had Mr. Ronnie’s encouragement for the same. All in all, a great and captivating learning session where we, budding entrepreneurs were getting to know about entrepreneurship from the horse’s mouth himself and trying to ‘dream with our eyes open’ as the title of Mr. Ronnie’s bestselling book suggests.
