Registration for MAH CET 2017 for admission to MMS/MBA/PGDM 2017-19 batch will close on February 13, 2017 and the exam will offer admission opportunity to Maharashtra and Non-Maharashtra candidates both

Registration and application process for MAH CET 2017 for admission to MMS/MBA/PGDM 2017-19 batch will close on February 13, 2017 at 5PM. MAHCET 2017 is gateway to MBA programmes in 400+ top MBA colleges who will offer admission to their flagship MBA 2017-19 programmes on the basis of MAH-CET scores to Maharashtra and Non-Maharashtra candidates both.

The exam offers admission opportunity not-only to Maharashtra State (MS) candidates but also to Outside Maharashtra State (OMS) or All India candidates who will also be offered admission on the basis of MAHCET 2017 scores.

There are approximately 59,000 seats in more than 400 top MBA colleges including JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, PUMBA, DSIMS, N L Dalmiya, FLAME among others to which admission in MBA/MMS/PGDM programme for 2017-19 will be adminstered through MAHCET 2017 exam. While JBIMS Mumbai proposes to conduct its own counselling round other top B-schools will offer admission through Centralized Admission Process (CAP) to be conducted by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra.

Admission process for Non-Maharashtra candidates
MAH-CET is the official gateway for admissions to all the AICTE approved, University, University affiliated and private aided or unaided B-schools in the State of Maharashtra.
Non-Maharashtra/All India candidates can register and apply for MAHCET 2017 by making an online payment of Rs.1000/- till February 13. The exam will offer equally good opportunity of MBA admission to Non-Maharashtra candidates also.

The admission through MAH CET 2017 is a 2 step process. The first is MAHCET 2017 online exam going to be held on March 4 & 5, 2017 and the next is Centralized Admission Process (CAP) which will begin after declaration of MAHCET 2017 result on March 10, 2017.  Exact dates for CAP 2017 will be notified by DTE Maharashtra later.

Registration for MAHCET mandatory
If you are a Non-Maharashtra candidate and wish to explore admission opportunity in 400+ Maharashtra state MBA colleges, you must register for MAHCET and DTE-CAP 2017.

Appearing in MAHCET 2017 is not necessary and you can be shortlisted and offered admission on the basis of your scores obtained in other All India tests like CAT 2016; XAT 2017; CMAT 2017; MAT December 2016 or February 2017 exam scores. But if you do not register and apply for MAHCET 2017 and do not participate in CAP 2017, you will not be offered admission in Maharashtra B-schools even after scoring high.

MAHCET 2017: Opportunity to get JBIMS, Mumbai 
All the applicants need to apply to JBIMS Mumbai separately this year as JBIMS has announced that it will not participate in CAP 2017 conducted by DTE Maharashtra and will conduct its own GD-PI round for admission.

JBIMS has clarified that it will accept CAT 2016 and MAHCET 2017 scores only. Accordingly MAHCET 2017 offers you an opportunity to improve your percentile if you could not score so well in CAT 2016 and get admission opportunity in JBIMS.

Besides, JBIMS has 15% quota for Non-Maharashtra state (All India) candidates in its admission process. Last year it offered admission to 18 candidates of Non-Maharashtra category with a low cut off 100-120 marks out of 200 in MAHCET.

Upto 35% seats are for Non-Maharashtra candidates
15% to 35% seat allocation is available for All India candidates appearing in MAH-CET exam These candidates are also offered admission on the basis of their scores in All India MBA entrance exams like CAT, XAT, CMAT, MAT, ATMA.

Out of 59000 seats available for admission, it is expected that around 15000 candidates of Non-Maharashtra category will get admission opportunity in Maharashtra B-schools.

4 Key parameters to change the candidature status
While issuing the registration and application guidelines for MAH CET 2017, DTE Maharashtra has prescribed 4 key parameters to define an applicant as Maharashtra State Candidate. The 4 DTE guidelines can change the OMS category candidate to Maharashtra State (MS) candidate, an opportunity that will shower with all the priorities in MBA/MMS 2017-19 admission process across Maharashtra B schools.

Be an MS candidate: Type A
An aspirant who has passed HSC and qualifying examination from Maharashtra state is a Maharashtra Candidate. If the Candidate is Domiciled or Born in the State of Maharashtra, he/she is the Maharashtra State Candidate and should mention it while registering and applying for MAHCET 2017 online. 

Presently OMS may be MS Candidate: Type B
You could be Maharashtra State (MS) Candidate if you or your Father or Mother is domiciled in the State of Maharashtra. It is not necessary that you were born or studied in the State of Maharashtra. In case it is the place of domicile of any 3 of you as shared above, you could reap the benefits of being an MS candidate although you are All India candidate of open category.

Either of parents posted in Maharashtra-MS Candidate: Type C
If either of your parents i.e. Father or Mother, is an employee of the Government of India or Government of India Undertaking and is posted and reported to duty in Maharashtra State before the last date for submitting the application for admission, you are a Maharashtra State candidate.

MS Candidate: Type D
An applicant will be considered as Maharashtra State Candidate if his/her Father or Mother is an employee of the Government of Maharashtra/Government of Maharashtra Undertaking and is posted outside the state.

Top MBA colleges accepting MAHCET 2017 scores

JBIMS, N L Dalmiya, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, DSIMS, PUMBA among other top rated B schools in Maharashtra, will accept MAHCET 2017 scores. All these B-schools offer either 2 year full time Masters in Management Studies (MMS) or Masters in Business Administration (MBA) programmes.

MMS/MBA 2017-19
MMS/MBA is the flagship AICTE approved degree programme in Maharashtra B-schools and is offered by hundreds of B-schools in Maharashtra. The degree is awarded by the University of Mumbai; Solapur among other universities in Maharashtra or it can be awarded by an autonomous institute. The placement after completion of MMS/MBA/PGDM is high and the fee structure is low.

Programme duration: 2 years full time

PGDM 2017-19
Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) 2017-19 is also offered by Maharashtra B-schools. PGDM is equivalent to MBA programme and is also approved by AICTE. Like IIMs who award PGDM to its students, the B-schools offering this programme will also award either University PGDM or as an autonomous institute to its students.

Programme duration: 2 years full time

Post Graduate Degree Programme (Excluding MBA/MMS)
Post Graduate Degree in various management programmes is also offered in specialized domains like Industrial relations; personnel management; financial management; marketing management; computer management among others by number of institutes. The specialised PG Degree is AICTE approved programme and is offered as a regular full time or part time programme in many B-schools. The post graduate degree is awarded by one or other university of Maharashtra.

Dual Degree in Management
B-schools in Maharashtra also offer dual degree programme in Management. The programme is approved by AICTE and is known as Masters in Applied Management. The degree is awarded by one of the Maharashtra Universities to which the B-school is affiliated.

Total Intake: 1200

All these seats for management programmes in the MBA colleges in Maharashtra are proposed to be filled up on the basis of MAH-CET 2017 scores.
