MBA placement trends in 2017 have reflected higher than last year salary figures as well as more international packages
MBA placement 2017 in many B schools got over in 3 to 4 days with high offers and the increased number of recruiters from all sectors

MBA placements for the 2015-17 batch is almost over in top B-schools with yet higher average compensation packages and the reports on Placement 2017 suggest that there is no economic slow down as was earlier anticipated after demonetization. The MBA placement trends in 2017 have reflected higher than last year salary figures as well as  more international packages.

The demand for MBAs in India has gone up further for consecutive 2nd year. There is no more a dismal picture of global economic slowdown that has been haunting the minds of young MBAs till last year. 

Various manufacturing, financial and service sectors in India have begun progressing more than the other ones and accordingly with the spread and improved demand for fresh MBAs, the recruiters in these sectors have become more competitive to hire better talent in a short period.

MBA placement 2017 in many B-schools got over in 3 to 4 days with high offers and the increased number of recruiters from all sectors. All the sectors have recorded growth in placement 2017 including Banking, Finance, Services & consultancy, Insurance (BFSI); IT/ITES; Operations; manufacturing, consulting among others.
 
Placement 2017 at IIMs
Out of the 20 IIMs, the top IIMs namely – IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta and IIM Lucknow have not shared in public domain their placement statistics as it is not possible for them to make the placement data public till the IPRS Audit is completed. While a few of the IIMs have completed their placement 2017, others propose to conclude it shortly. The official data would be made available after completion of Audit in the month of September 2017.

IIM Ahmedabad: Placement starts on Feb 13
IIM Ahmedabad concludes the final placement in the month of February as per its past placement trends. Placement 2017 at IIM Ahmedabad is proposed to begin on February 13, 2017. The process is expected to be over in 3-4 days but the statistics would be made available in September.

Last year also, the Placement 2016 at IIM Ahmedabad got over with the beginning of year 2016 in the month of February. However, IIM Ahmedabad released the final placement report with salary statistics only after the entire placement process was audited as per IPRS standards after 6 months of the completion of placement process.  IIM Ahmedabad released reports of Final placements for PGP, PGP – FABM and PGPX programmes for the year 2016 in September.

Top Recruiters
Accenture Strategy emerged as the top recruiter at IIMA in placement 2016 across all clusters having selected 18 students from the batch of 383 students at the campus. Bain & Company, The Boston Consulting Group extended 16 and 17 offers respectively. McKinsey made 11 offers.

Other top recruiters included Yes Bank, Goldman Sachs, P&G, Star TV, Bharti Airtel, Aditya Birla Group, Amazon among others.

IIM Bangalore & IIM Calcutta: Placement 2017
IIM Bangalore and IIM Calcutta are to conclude their placement 2017 shortly. These top B-schools last year concluded their placement in 3 days with higher salary packages and more recruiters. This year also the placement packages are expected to increase substantially once the placement process is over and statistics is made available.

IIM Kozhikode
The 19th batch of the Post Graduate Programme of IIM Kozhikode has concluded its final placement for the graduating batch of 2017. The season witnessed an increase in the number of first time recruiters visiting campus and students being offered niche roles. Around 107 recruiters participated in the final placements and 343 offers were made. The highest domestic salary was INR 37 lakhs per annum. The number of Pre-Placement offers saw a marked rise of 15.15% over last year. The average annual compensation this year was 17.14 lakhs per annum.

This year had 334 students participating in the placement process and completed 100% placements for the graduating batch of 2017 with major recruiters like Accenture Strategy, BCG, Deloitte, EY, Goldman Sachs, JPMC, McKinsey, PwC among others participating in the placements drive.

The campus witnessed 26 first time recruiters like Aspect Ratio, Evanssion, Feedback Infra, Infosys Management Consulting, Kalyan Group, Korn Ferry Hay Group, Microland, Payoneer, and many more.

The season witnessed an increase in the number of Finance roles on offer with major companies like American Express, Axis Bank, Bank of America, Citibank, Deutsche Bank, Edelweiss, Fidelity, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JP Morgan Chase, Nomura, Standard Chartered, Yes Bank making offers to 26% of the candidates.

Diverse roles in consulting domain were offered to 25% of the batch by Accenture Strategy, Boston Consulting Group, Cognizant Business Consulting, Deloitte, EY, IBM, Korn Ferry Hay Group, KPMG, McKinsey, and PwC.

IIM Rohtak
The 6th PGP batch at IIM Rohtak concluded the final placement 2017 recording 10.1% higher average salary for the batch of 158 students out of which 10 students opted out of the placement process to pursue higher studies, entrepreneurship or to join family business. The Placement 2017 at IIM Rohtak also saw a growth of 127% in Pre-placement offers/Pre-placement Internships across the sectors. 25 lateral offers were made to the students with prior work experience. More than 40 recruiters were the first timers at IIM Rohtak in placement 2017.

IIM Rohtak is the 1st among 6 new IIMs that has concluded its final placement process for the class 2015-17 with 10.1% rise in average salary. The institute witnessed participation of recruiters across varied domains recording again 100% placement.

SPJIMR, Mumbai Placement 2017
SPJIMR Mumbai concluded the Placement 2017 on January 17 with an increase in number of recruiters from 89 to 104 who hired 229 students. Another key feature in Placement at SPJIMR was that the class of 2017 also received 5 international offers. Students of PGDM Adavanced course - Global Fast Track (GFT) at SPJIMR were taken to  USA for a month to study in globally recognised universities.

The placement season witnessed the regular recruiters like TAS, Deloitte, Accenture Strategy, Mahindra GMC, HUL, P&G, Microsoft, PwC-PRTM, Axis Bank, and JM Financial returning to recruit talent from the batch, proving that SPJIMR remains a preferred campus for B-School recruitment.

As against 26 new recruiters last year, SPJIMR saw participation from 51 new companies in placement 2017 like Goldman Sachs, Reckitt Benckiser, General Mills, ITC, Johnson & Johnson, GEP, Miebach Consulting, Samara Capital, Investec, DBS Bank, ICICI Prudential, MCX, Directi, HCL Infosystems, LinkedIn, SAP, DSP BlackRock, Samsung, Amway, Heinz, Siemens, Sony Music, Pernod Ricard, Texas Instruments among others.

IMI New Delhi
More than 80 companies from various sectors showed up for placements 2017 to recruit 247 students at IMI New Delhi. The placement 2017 at International Management Institute (IMI) New Delhi was over in 3 days.

Prominent feature in the placement 2017 is that along with the regular recruiters more new companies visited the campus for placement across sectors and domains. There were regular visitors to the campus like J. P. Morgan Chase, Citibank, HSBC, ICICI Bank and some new visitors which included Royal Bank of Scotland, and Standard Chartered.

The mix of sectors gave the students an option for a large variety of profiles and greater spread career choices. Industries ranging from Banking and Financial Services, IT, Consulting to FMCG and Automobiles gave the students the option to make the best use of the opportunity.

Highest number of 22 offers came from ICICI Bank followed by HCL with 21 offers. McKinsey offered salary of rs. 15.01 lakhs while Fair Trade (International) offered even higher salary of Rs.15.06 lakhs.

The season saw a hike in the average salary to Rs.12.54 lakhs from Rs.12.40 lakhs last year. Median package shot up to around 12.1 LPA.

Other top IIMs and B-schools namely FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, XLRI Jamshedpur, IMT Ghaziabad, IIFT Delhi are about to conclude their Placement 2017 in a few days. It is expected that the placement 2017 will achieve greater mile stones than earlier in these top MBA colleges.
