The 2 days 4 sessions MAH CET 2017 exam that began in the morning on March 4 has ended in the evening on Sunday, March 5, 2017 across the country. Across the 4 sessions the exam was reported lengthy with many tricky questions and the candidates were seen gasping for more time and remained busy in time management during the exam.

It is time now to check the expected score and percentile to explore admission opportunity in top MBA colleges accepting MAHCET scores. It may be noted that JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, PUMBA among other 400 MBA colleges will accept MAHCET 2017 scores in admission to MBA/MMS 2017-19 programmes.

Although the official number of test takers who appeared in MAHCET 2017 is not yet released by DTE Maharashtra but it is expected that out of 94000 plus candidates around 85000 have appeared in MAH CET 2017 exam in 2 days to compete for 40000 seats in 400 MBA colleges in Maharashtra.

Despite the fact that JBIMS Mumbai is not participating in the DTE – Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2017, the number of registered candidates for MAHCET 2017 has gone up from 74000 in last year to 94000 in MAHCET 2017.

State CET Cell that conducted MAHCET 2017 also tapped the opportunity by placing twisted and tricky questions in the last session of exam on March 5, 2017.

Curtains for MAHCET 2017 were drawn on March 5, 2017 after State CET Cell concluded the afternoon exam session for the 2nd consecutive day. The exam contained 200 MCQs carrying maximum total score of 200 without any penalty of negative marking for wrong answer. Overall exam was considered moderate although Reasoning and Verbal in the last session were reported tricky and lengthy by number of test takers.

No Surprise element
There was no surprise element on the final day of MAHCET 2017. Reasoning and Verbal were  found a bit more tricky. Verbal Ability test was found to be on moderate side with a mix of questions. Still the exam could be rated as a bit more tough than last year MAHCET. Students should however not expect much slide down in merit position as they would need higher scores of around 140 to 150 to get into JBIMS.

There were few difficult and time consuming questions. Test of Logical and Abstract reasoning was bit more time consuming.

The aspirants who appeared on the final day of MAHCET 2017 on March 5 tried to give their best shot in the exam as the test was slightly more on difficult side. Since MAHCET 2017 has no negative marking candidates also used the guess work well to mark the probable answers and are hopeful that they hit at least 50% of them correct.

Logical and Abstract Reasoning
75 questions on Logical Reasoning were not easy. While the individual questions were a little on moderate side, the questions in sets were found tricky and lengthy. It took candidates for a ride and many of them despite their best efforts could not go beyond 40 correct, although they attempted all the 75.

The questions in sets followed the given data; information and candidates had tough time to crack the questions in sets.

Abstract Reasoning with 25 questions was considered a little easier. There were questions on series, anomalies, analogies, formation of words in a coded language among others. Out of 25 questions candidates could crack 16 or more correct.

Quantitative Aptitude
Rated moderate but slightly on difficult side than on March 4, Quant test on March 5 had more tricky and lengthy questions. Prominent topics on which questions were based were percentage, ratio and proportion. Number of candidates could not crack more than 20 questions correct initially and resorted to guess work.

The questions were tricky and time consuming. Many questions called for quick tricks and formula application and aspirants with conceptual clarity and good practice were able to solve these questions. There were more questions on Arithmetic. Geometry and Algebra with Data Analysis sets. Most of the questions were more calculation based and time consuming.

Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
The final day of MAHCET 2017 exam had bit more difficult questions in Verbal Ability section. Candidates could crack around 30 out 50 with a little difficulty.

Questions were framed on the RC passages, error corrections in sentences, rewriting the parts of sentences with error in them,  vocabulary usage, parajumbles, Fill in the blanks among others.  There were 5 answer options that followed each question in each section.

The level of difficulty was moderate to difficult but the questions were doable. Merit position will not go much high and with a score of more than 30 marks in this section you could expect to stand in the high merit list for top B-schools.
