JBIMS Mumbai has changed its admission policy and will not be conducting any GD-PI for admission to MMS 2017-19 batch as the entire admission process will be through DTE-CAP
The admission process for MMS for the academic year 2017-19 will be same as conducted last year for 2016 - 18 JBIMS Mumbai

After a long wait, Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS)  Mumbai has announced its admission criteria for its flagship MMS 2017-19 programme. JBIMS will now offer admission through DTE-CAP 2017 instead of conducting its own GD-PI round. According to JBIMS “The admission process for MMS for the academic year 2017-19 will be same as conducted last year for 2016-18.  Any change in the process, if any, will be intimated on the website.”

For the admission 2016-18 JBIMS participated in DTE-CAP 2016 and offered admission to the high percentilers in other national level entrance tests apart from MAHCET 2017. In 2015 JBIMS accepted only CAT and MAH-CET exam scores as the final admission round was conducted by this B-school as an autonomous body

Accordingly now all the candidates who have appeared and scored good percentile in CAT 2016; XAT 2017; CMAT 2017; MAT 2016-17 apart from MAHCET 2017 are eligible to be considered for admission to JBIMS, Mumbai.

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra will conduct Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2017 in May 2017 for admission to 40000+ MBA/MMS seats in 400 Maharashtra B-schools including JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, PUMBA, N L Dalmiya, DSIMS, Dy Patil, FLME among others.

CAP 2017 is the GD-PI round for admission to MBA/MMS programmes in Maharashtra B-schools. DTE Maharashtra will announce the CAP dates after MAH CET 2017 result is declared. The registration process for CAP 2017 is expected to open in the month of April 2017 for Maharashtra State (MS) as well as for Outside Maharashtra State (OMS) or All India candidates.

JBIMS Admission criteria: Key changes in 2 months
JBIMS, Mumbai has taken a U-turn from its earlier announced admission policy for MMS 2017-19. In December 2016 JBIMS had announced that it would not participate in DTE-CAP and will conduct its own admission process.

The revised Admission policy announced by JBIMS, Mumbai now proposes to offer admission through the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra for all the 400 MBA-colleges.

Good opportunity for All India Candidates: CAT/XAT/CMAT scores accepted
The candidates who did not appear in MAHCET 2017 but have appeared in CAT 2016/ XAT 2017/CMAT 2017/ MAT 2016-17 can also register for CAP 2017 if they wish to be considered for admission in JBIMS, Mumbai and other top rated Maharashtra B schools.

The chances are that high percentilers in National level MBA entrance exams apart from MAHCET 2017 may get admission opportunity to JBIMS as DTE Maharashtra requires and allows a candidate to participate in CAP 2017 round without appearing in MAH-CET 2017 but score in one of the above national level entrance exams has been made mandatory.

No separate application is proposed to be submitted to JBIMS, Mumbai as the allotment of the B-school will be decided in CAP round.

Instead of appearing in separate GD-PI process for JBIMS for admission 2017, now the candidates will have to participate in CAP 2017 to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra sometime in May-June 2017 for admission to flagship MMS 2017-19 batch at JBIMS.

Candidates desirous of seeking admission in JBIMS, Mumbai now do not have to apply separately to this institute but have to register and apply for CAP 2017 when the registration opens and pay the requisite fee.

It should be remembered that DTE Maharashtra considers the best of the many scores for the admission to MBA/MMS programmes in Maharashtra B-schools including JBIMS.

JBIMS  got the autonomous status in 2014 and accordingly the highly ranked B-school which is affiliated to Mumbai University conducted and finalised its own admission process including conducting the GD-PI round for 2-year full time Masters in Management Studies (MMS) Programme in 2015. For admission 2016 JBIMS again followed the DTE-CAP 2016, instead of finalizing the admission process on its own. The 2017 admission process at JBIMS will be on similar lines as that of 2016 admission process.

Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) Mumbai is one of the 3 highest ranked B schools in Maharashtra with SPJIMR and NMIMS and one of the top 15 B schools In India. JBIMS was granted the status of Autonomous institute in late 2014. The B school has a low fee structure as the fee is decided by the Shikshan Shulka Samiti, Maharashtra. The fee structure for admission 2017 is about Rs.70000/- per year. JBIMS has the legacy of 100% placement record with high average placement packages. The Return on Investment at JBIMS is high and the Alumni base is large enough and is spread all over the world.
