Taking cognizance of changing MBA education scenario, IIM Lucknow launched Postgraduate Programme in Sustainable Management (PGPSM) at its Noida campus in 2015. Within a year of its launch PGPSM at IIM Lucknow- Noida campus has turned out to be the favourite management programme for working executives with a 2 year or more of work experience. The PGPSM is now no less important than the regular PGP at IIM Lucknow which follows the same admission process for PGPSM as it follows for PGP programme.

PGPSM has not yet completed its 2 years but the programme has received great response from Corporate and industry. While the summer placement for IIM Lucknow – PGPSM ended on high note, top recruiters like Mckinsey, Ernst and Young, Accenture, PwC, KPMG among are showing interest in final placement 2017.

Corporate decisions are getting directed with Sustainability issues. There is a demand for MBA graduates who should understand Sustainability challenges and maintain the balance between financial, environmental and social responsiveness. Public awareness about environmental degradation, global warming, climate change, and socio-economic implications of corporate action has increased remarkably in recent times. This has radically transformed business paradigms around the world.  IIM Lucknow has designed the PGPSM to produce experts in this area.

Summer placement over
The recent Summer Placements for PGPSM 2015-17 batch have been good with participation from 13 firms making 26 offers for 19 students. IIM Lucknow held 2 successful rounds of Summer Placements. Internships have been offered by a wide range of companies from various sectors.

Mahindra, Tata Sustainability Group, Wipro, Cairn Energy, PwC, KPMG, Azim Premji Foundation, Wipro Earthian-CSTEP, BIOME, Valluri Technology Accelerators, Sweep Enviro, UPL and Biocon are some of the companies that have offered varied roles in sustainability.

The offers have been made in the domain of renewable energy solutions, smart city consulting, sustainability reporting, rural development, social and community inclusion, corporate social responsibility, environment, waste management, carbon neutrality and pricing.

PGPSM: Final Placements on
The process of final placement for PGPSM 2015-17 batch is going on. There is enthusiastic response from the industry and corporate sector to recruit the students of PGPSM 2015-17 batch.

The PGPSM students have either been offered jobs or are being considered by leading companies including Mckinsey, Ernst and Young, Accenture, PwC, KPMG, Vikram Solar, Mytrah Energy, H & M, UMTC, Cargill Foods, Vallury Technology Accelerators, Mahindra among others.

PGPSM batch profile
The PGPSM 2015-17 batch has an average work experience of 4.5 years and PGPSM 2016-18 has an average work experience of 4 years. In addition to entrepreneurs, PGPSM batch at IIM Lucknow Noida campus has professionals with work experience in sectors like IT, Sales and Marketing, Operations, Healthcare, Consulting and Banking.

An unstable social and environmental ecology will inadvertently hurt the profit bottom line of business by making the conduct of business expensive. Hence, the only way to deal with the threat of negative environmental and sociological impact of business is to convert them into opportunities of improvements and excellence.

The PGPSM enables future managers to understand the ever evolving and interactive nature of these sustainability challenges and come up with integrated, holistic solutions.

Post Graduate Programme in Sustainable Management (PGPSM) at IIM Lucknow – Noida campus is a  2 year full time, residential programme being conducted by IIM Lucknow at its Noida campus. The batch size for PGPSM 2017-19 is 45 students.

PGPSM programme helps students develop an ethos of environment and social responsibility of businesses and equip them with holistic thinking and skills. According to Prof Sushil Kumar, PGPSM programme head, IIM Lucknow, “The well designed curriculum focuses on developing capability to recognize the inter-connectedness of economic performance of business with social and environmental systems. Students would also be able to produce policy-relevant results.”
