Post declaration of MAH CET 2017 result by Directorate of technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra  on the pre committed date of March 10 at its site http://mbaresult2017.dtemaharashtra.gov.in/ for admission to MBA/MMS 2017-19 batch, now the candidates are looking for the best MBA options with their scores in the MAH CET 2017 exam which was held on March 4 and 5 in multiple sessions.

There are 40000 MBA seats in 400 MBA colleges of Maharashtra and all these MBA colleges will offer admission through DTE – CAP 2017 counselling process. Accordingly, the final admission and allotment of MBA seat in JBIMS and other top MBA colleges will be based on Centralized Admission Process (CAP) to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra in the month of May 2017.

What is CAP counseling
The very first thing the high scorers and other successful candidates in the MAH CET 2017 exam should note is that your MAH CET exam scores will award you a merit position in the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for all the 400+ MBA colleges including JBIMS, SIMSREE, N L Dalmiya, K J Somaiya, PUMBA among others. The exam scores through which you can get the merit position in CAP round are –

  • MAT Feb 2017 (If May MAT 2017 result is declared on time and CAP does not begin by them, candidates may be allowed to update their scores for CAP round)

The CAP is the counseling process and is the final selection round for allotment of seats in the Maharashtra MBA colleges. On the basis of your merit position you will be allotted a seat in the MBA college in order of your preference which you have filled up for CAP round.

Components of CAP 2017
After the candidates are shortlisted for next stage of admission round on the basis of qualifying exam scores, they will be called for in-person assessment and will be awarded merit score on the basis of their performance in MAH CET 2017 or other qualifying entrance exams & other parameters, in Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2017. DTE will conduct CAP at various centres in the State of Maharashtra. 

The evaluation criteria will take into account the complete personality of the candidate, which includes various parameters like score in the exam; extra-curricular activities and other significant achievements.

Work experience is also a component of the CAP round but if a fresher has other substantial credentials, he/she can cover up in other parameters. Work-experience alone would not be the deciding criteria.

MMS/MBA 2017-19
JBIMS, N L Dalmiya, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, DSIMS, PUMBA among other top rated B schools in Maharashtra, offer 2 year full time Masters in Management Studies (MMS) and Masters in Business Administration (MBA) programmes.

MMS is the flagship AICTE approved degree programme in Maharashtra B-schools which is equivalent to MBA programme and is also offered by hundreds of B-schools in Maharashtra. The post graduate degree is awarded by the University of Mumbai; Solapur among other universities in Maharashtra or it can be awarded by an autonomous institute. The placement after completion of MMS is high and the fee structure is low.

PGDM 2017-19
Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) 2017-19 is also offered by Maharashtra B-schools. PGDM is equivalent to MBA programme and is also approved by AICTE. Like IIMs who award PGDM to its students, the B-schools offering this programme will also award either University PGDM or as an autonomous institute to its students.

Post Graduate Degree Programme (Excluding MBA/MMS)
Post Graduate Degree in various management programmes is also offered in specialized domains like Industrial relations; personnel management; financial management; marketing management; computer management among others by number of institutes. The specialised PG Degree is AICTE approved programme and is offered as a regular full time or part time programme in many B-schools. The post graduate degree is awarded by one or other university of Maharashtra.

Dual Degree in Management
B-schools in Maharashtra also offer dual degree programme in Management. The programme is approved by AICTE and is known as Masters in Applied Management. The degree is awarded by one of the Maharashtra Universities to which the B-school is affiliated.

15% to 35% MBA seats marked for All India candidates
Top MBA colleges accepting MAH CET 2017 scores like JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, N L Dalmiya, PUMBA, Dy Patil, Singhad among others have a minimum reservation of 15% seats for All India category candidates. Other MBA colleges also follow the Maharashtra Government reservation policy for the All India candidates in the range of 15 to 35 percent. In fact, DTE Maharashtra has prescribed a reservation of 65% seats for Maharashtra domicile candidates and has kept other seats for All India and other category candidates.

Going by the past trend it can be assumed that 35% seats out of the more than 40000 seats would be available to outside Maharashtra candidates. The number therefore for non Maharashtra candidates is supposed to be around 14000 to 15000 seats. Probably this is the reason why more candidates from other states appear in MAH CET than any other state level MBA entrance exam

How tough to get top MBA College?
More than 94000 candidates had registered for MAH CET 2017 exam for admission to top MBA colleges in Maharashtra and more than 80000 have taken the MAH CET exam this year. There are 400+ MBA colleges in Maharashtra with more than 40000 MBA seats. Although there is a ratio of 2 candidates for 1 seat, the competition will remain very tough for top 10 MBA colleges accepting MAH CET 2017 scores.

No need to apply separately to JBIMS
On similar lines like last year candidates need not apply separately to JBIMS for MMS admission 2017. The candidates will be allotted the MMS seat in the top MBA college through the CAP round.

MAH CET 2017 scores you need for JBIMS
DTE Maharashtra will declare MAH CET 2016 result on March 29, 2016 on the basis of equi-percentile process. Going by the trend of securing admission in JBIMS, it can be anticipated that a candidate with 153 out 200 maximum marks scored in MAH CET 2016 can get admission in JBIMS. The 100 percentiler in MAH CET 2016 may score around 163 to 165 marks and the candidate with 153 marks may get a percentile of 99.
