The 2 year full time Postgraduate Programme in Sustainable Management (PGPSM) at IIM Lucknow- Noida campus is the course that empowers the candidates with the right decision making perspective in view of the various Sustainability issues being faced by corporate and industry. In the current business scenario PGPSM helps managers to develop an ethos of environment and social responsibility and equip them with holistic skills to handle varied sustainability challenges.
IIM Lucknow’s vision to raise leaders who can steer corporates on a sustainable path came into fruition as all 19 students enrolled in the Post Graduate Programme in Sustainable Management (PGPSM) graduated in the 31st annual convocation. The significant role of these graduates in future economic and sustainable development was acknowledged by the Chief Guest at the IIM Lucknow Annual Convocation 2017, Mr. Deep Kalra, CEO Makemytrip, who was “gladdened to hear about the course on sustainability”. Mr Kalra emphasized “Post Graduate Programme in Sustainable Management is what the world needs, PGPSM graduates are going to save the planet”.
Sharing on how important the PGPSM programme at IIM Lucknow has become for corporate and industry, Prof Shamama Afreen, faculty at IIM Lucknow says “The program is a response to the calls from industry for managers who can achieve corporate success while resolving societal and environmental challenges like global warming, poverty, water scarcity, pollution, income inequalities and waste management.”
The successful graduation and industry’s encouraging acceptance of the first batch of graduates is a testament of the increasing demand for sustainability experts and the recrafting of organizational roles to drive sustainable development.
PGPSM has enjoyed an astounding amount of encouragement, support and appreciation from industry visionaries. Sustainability leaders from Tata Sustainability Group, KPMG, PwC, CII, World Bank, Tata Motors, Ernst & Young, Vedanta, Coca Cola and many others have continuously engaged with the students and helped strengthen networks with industry. As IIML prepares to welcome its 3rd batch of PGPSM students, it reinforces its ethos of सुप्रबन्धे राष्ट्र समृद्धि by creating and fostering leaders for charting the course of India’s sustainable development.
Companies having divisions like sustainability, environment, climate change, energy, green products and those in the social sector are the prospective recruiters for these students.
PGPSM is one of the important management programmes of IIM Lucknow and is conducted at its Noida campus. The programme is only 2 years old and was launched in 2015. Due to its multi facet approach and great learning, the programme has tremendously captured the attention of corporate and industry which is passing through various Sustainability issues impacting its decision making.
