MAT 2017 exam toppers remain undecided on doing MBA in 2017, but you should think well and if possible shouldn’t miss the bus
If it so happens that you improve on your score in MAT, but do not improve much in other exams, you might be wasting your one year

MAT 2017 May exam toppers are still undecided whether to go for MBA in 2017 or should go for other exam and do it in 2018. Since the last dates for the MBA admissions are to close shortly, you need to decide quickly whether you want to do MBA in 2017 or plan to invest one more year in preparation.

Toppers still undecided on admission
Tuhin Borgohain from Sivasagar District of West Bengal has scored 800 out of 800 in May MAT 2017 exam, with 99.88 percentile but thinks it is not enough and wants to score much higher in other top MBA entrance exams before exploring admission opportunity in any top B-school. Accordingly, he plans to go for MBA next year.

Another MAT exam topper in May 2017 exam Debajit Roy Choudhary from Birbhum and with a score of 786.5 and 99.72 percentile also has not divulged any plan to do MBA now although admission opportunity can still be explored in many good B-schools. Following him is Sayan Sarkar who has scored 784.5 and 99.68 percentile but has no plan to pursue MBA with this score.

Strategy not favoured, unless confident
However, this strategy could be useful if you are confident enough to score a very high percentile in CAT, XAT or other important MBA entrance exams. If it so happens that you improve on your score in MAT, but do not improve much in other exams, you might be wasting your one year. This is suggested by experts.

Why to miss the bus? Better to grab the chance
In fact, good MBA admission options are still available for those who are quick now to grab the opportunity. Most of the MBA/PGDM B-schools where admission options are open propose to close it in the month of June itself.

Whether you have scored 700 or 500 in MAT 2017 May exam, you have neither improved too much nor have gone down. The admission options are equal with both scores. You have good MBA options, if not the best like IIMs, open for admission across the country on the basis of MAT May 2017 exam scores.

At present MBA admission is available in almost all the 600-700 B-schools present on the site of AIMA and in Maharashtra for which Centralized Admission Process (CAP) is over and now the admissions are to be finalized at the institute level. MBA aspirants need to understand that more than 300 B-schools present in the list of AIMA and accepting May MAT 2017 score stand almost on the same ground with slight variation.

To get admission to preferred MBA programme, you need to be quick and should apply fast. Alternatively, you can take help of a counsellor at MBAUniverse.com to locate your B-school. You will be lucky if you take a prompt decision and grab the MBA seat in your preferred B-school accepting MAT score.

Decide quickly
If you delay the decision, you may have to approach some other lower rung B-school with your score. You still have good MBA options in Delhi NCR, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad where May MAT 2017 scores would be accepted. Some of them are worth your dream B-schools. It is therefore high time to decide now or get ready to prepare for some other MBA entrance for admission in 2018, in case you think you can hit the ball to the goal otherwise one more year will go waste.

Since high scores in CAT or XAT imply that you could be shortlisted by IIMs or XLRI among other top rated B-schools, test takers go on mulling over as more options are open for them. But if you go through the list of B-schools who accept MAT scores, you do not find any of the 20 IIMs; SPJIMR; FMS; MDI; IMI; IMT; TAPMI; NITIE; XLRI; XIMB or any other such B-school.

Hence, there is no point to go on waiting when you have the list of B-schools before you and you are well aware that despite scoring very high or little low, same options will remain available to you.

Please note that after scoring 500 or 600 in May MAT 2017, if you think you will get an IIM, XLRI, SPJIMR or others, you are running after a mirage only. The sooner you get rid of this illusion, the better it will be to understand the hard reality in regard to getting into an MBA with low or high MAT May 2017 exam scores.
