Non-IIMs to register with CAT Centre 2017
It appears IIM Lucknow, the CAT 2017 convener has fully geared up to convene CAT 2017 on time without delay. CAT Centre 2017 at IIM Lucknow has already sent the necessary documents to non-IIMs to register quickly in the list of CAT 2017 score accepting B-schools. Last year many Non-IIMs requested for extension of last date to submit the required MoU to CAT Centre as the list of Non-IIMs accepting CAT scores did not reflect their names and they were added very late.

IIM Lucknow will display the list of Non-IIMs on the CAT 2017 website iimcat.ac.in with its launch so that the CAT 2017 aspirants may know the details about the MBA/PGDM institutes who will accept CAT 2017 scores for admission to their different management programmes commencing in the academic session 2018-19.

Expect twists in CAT 2017
IIM Lucknow, known for its quest for excellence, may bring more changes in Common Admission Test this year. Accordingly, CAT 2017 the largest MBA entrance exam is expected to be full of many changes and surprises making the exam as the first of its kind of examination during past many years.

TCS will remain the testing partner for CAT 2017. The exam is proposed to be conducted on last Saturday/ Sunday in the month of November or first Saturday/Sunday of December. High sectional and overall percentile in CAT 2017 will provide admission opportunity in 20 IIMs and other highly ranked B-schools in the country.

CAT 2017 official notification may contain many changes in the exam which include:

  • CAT 2017 testing window-whether it will be a single day or multiple days exam with number of sessions
  • Key eligibility criteria to appear in the exam. Last year CAT allowed the candidates with 2 years of university recognized graduate degree in old pattern as eligible to appear in the exam.
  • Information about the number of test cities, option to choose the test centre might also be shared by IIM Lucknow in the CAT 2017 notification.
  • Change in CAT exam session time is also expected
  • Change in reporting time at test centre. It used to be one and a half hour earlier but was increased to two hours before the scheduled time of beginning of the CAT exam. It may be reduced this year.

CAT 2017: Exam pattern may change
The total overhaul of CAT began in 2015 when IIM Ahmedabad convened the exam. Although CAT 2016 convener Prof Rajendra K Bandi, faculty IIM Bangalore did not effect many changes in CAT exam, it is expected that CAT 2017 exam may have different structure and content with more aspirant friendly features.

The registration and application process for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017 is expected to open in the first week of August 2017 and will continue till late September 2017. There would not be any facility to register off-line in CAT 2017. The candidates will need to keep their documents ready before going to apply online and finalize the online registration for CAT 2017.

Common Admission Test (CAT) 2017 is the mandatory exam for admission to flagship post graduate management programme in 20 IIMs and other top rated B schools for the academic session beginning 2018.

At present there are 20 IIMs namely IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Shillong, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, IIM Tiruchippalli, IIM Udaipur and the 7 newest IIMs including IIM Amritsar, IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Nagpur, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Visakhapatnam.

The biggest benefit for CAT 2017 aspirants who get reasonably good score in the CAT and convert even the newest IIMs, is that all the 7 newest IIMs are mentored by top 6 oldest IIMs and their faculty are teaching in the newest IIMs. The students get best placement assistance also by the mentor IIMs – a fact which has been proved in the placement of the first batch of these newest IIMs recording high packages for their maiden batch.
