IIMs have increased the CAT 2017 registration and application fee again for 2nd year in a row. The CAT 2017 notification release in news papers from IIM Lucknow on July 30 reveals the fact that CAT registration charges have gone up by 12.5% in two years from Rs.1600 to Rs.1800

IIMs have increased the CAT 2017 registration and application fee again for 2nd year in a row. The CAT 2017 notification release in news papers from IIM Lucknow on July 30 categorically reveals this fact.

In 2015, the CAT registration fee was Rs.1600/-. It was increased in CAT 2016 to Rs.1700 and now for CAT 2017 registration, fee has again been increased by Rs.100/- to Rs.1800/-. During the two years, the CAT registration charges have gone up by 12.5%. Now, the CAT 2017 aspirants shall have to shell out more to appear in CAT this year.

CAT 2017 exam registration and application window will open on Wednesday, August 9, at 10 AM and will close on September 20, 2017 at 5 PM.

In the press release, Prof. Neeraj Dwivedi, Convener, CAT 2017 and faculty at IIM Lucknow, has stamped the breaking news of MBAUniverse.com and has confirmed that CAT 2017 will be held on November 26, 2017 on the same pattern as was held last year.

Sharing the key dates of registration process for CAT 2017, the IIM Lucknow has informed

“Registration for CAT 2017 will open on 9th August 2017 and will close on 20th September 2017” More details regarding CAT 2017 online registration process will be made available shortly by IIM Lucknow in the Registration Guide and Registration video to be published on the CAT 2017 website.

Shortest CAT 2017 registration window of 43 days
IIM Lucknow has announced 43 days Registration window for CAT 2017. During the last 4 years CAT 2017 registration window is the shortest with only 43 days available to apply from August 9 to September 20. The registration process for CAT 2017 will begin on August 9 and will close on September 20, 2017.

Registration process
The CAT 2017 registration process is online only and the payment of the registration fee is also to be made online by net banking; Debit card; credit card. There is no offline payment facility to register and apply for CAT 2017.

Fee includes all IIMs
IIM Lucknow has advised that a candidate needs to pay registration fee only once, irrespective of the number of Indian Institutes of Management (IIMS) he/she is applying for. At present there are 20 IIMs and by paying single registration fee, a candidate can apply for all the eligible courses in all the IIMs.

No Refund of fee admissible
It has been clarified by IIM Lucknow that the registration and application fee once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.

Upload SC/ST/PwD certificate while applying
IIM Lucknow has clarified that SC, ST and PwD candidates must upload a copy of their SC/ST/PwD certificates at the time of registration.

Don’t fill wrong information: will render you disqualified
Not filling up the required information or filling up any wrong information during the CAT 2017 registration may render the candidate disqualified even if he or she secures a high percentile in the exam.

Key points to note
Important information points that you should note and follow at the time of registration are-

  • No paper work required in CAT 2017 registration
  • No option of self-selection of test centres in CAT 2017 registration window is available nor you may choose the session as per your choice
  • CAT 2017 registration will require valid and unique email address. All correspondence until CAT 2017 is over and during the selection stage will be communicated using this email address.
  • CAT 2017 registration window will close by default on completion of allotted maximum time which may not be more than 30 minutes. In case of non completion of registration, you will need to login again
  • When the CAT 2017 registration link opens on August 9, the CAT 2017 aspirants going to register for the exam, should open the link by clicking on “Register” instead of going to ‘existing user’.   
  • The fee for CAT 2017 registration is to be paid online only
  • If you have made a mistake in filling out details for those fields which will affect selection process, such as Percentage of Marks, Category, Gender, Work Experience, it will be better to re-register with a new email ID and repayment of registration fee.
  • If your CAT 2017 application is submitted with successful online payment of examination fees, uploaded images of photo and signature of required size, you will see Application Summary and Download Application Form else the registration form will remain incomplete.

CAT 2017 registration form will consist of all the 20 IIMs along with the details of various management programmes offered by all the IIMs. Admission to all these management programmes will be available after scoring the required percentile in CAT 2017 and subsequent process.

CAT 2017 is the mandatory exam for admission to all the 20 IIMs. CAT 2017 will be held on November 26, 2017 in 140 test cities of 21 states across the country. The exam will be on the same pattern as of last year.  CAT 2017,  a single day 2 session exam will consist of 3 sections to be solved in 3 hours with individual sectional time limit of 60 minutes. Total number of questions in CAT 2017 will be 100.
