The first day of the 8th edition of Indian Management Conclave (IMC) 2017 registered a grand success with participation of corporate leaders, deans and directors of top B-schools and policy makers bringing conglomeration of thoughts out of their intellectual sharing and panel discussions. Great management thinkers, top academicians, corporate leaders, deans and directors of IIMs and other top B-schools from India and abroad addressed, presented and shared their views on the 1st day of Indian Management Conclave (IMC) 2017 on August 4, on the theme 'Curriculum for New Era’.

On the day-1 success and what is kept in store on day-2 of IMC 2017, Mr Amit Agnihotri, Convener, Indian Management Conclave and Chairman MBAUniverse.com said Day 1 (Friday, August 4) of 8th Indian Management Conclave 2017 was a great success. 15 top speakers shared their perspectives on Reshaping Indian MBA Curriculum with 200 Directors and Deans. With AICTE Chairman and 10 other speakers confirmed to address, Day 2 (Saturday, August 5) promises to be even better! Tomorrow will also see presentation of IMC Awards 2017 and IMC Distinguished Alumni Award at 2.30PM.”

On the occasion the vision document in the shape of book by Prof S R Singhvi and Mr Amit Agnihotri, has also been released on the theme ‘Institutional Leadership in Management Education’ conceptualized in 7th IMC 2016 held at IIM Ahmedabad in the inaugural session on August 4, 2017, jointly by Mr Raman Roy, Chairman, NASSCOM; Dr Kulwant Singh, Deputy Dean, NUS Business School, Singapore; Dr KRS Murthy, Former Director, IIM Bangalore; Dr Ajit Prasad, Director, IIM Lucknow and Mr Amit Agnihotri, Convener, Indian Management Conclave and Chairman MBAUniverse.com.

IMC 2017 is the 8th edition of India’s largest management conclave convened by MBAUniverse.com and hosted by IIM Lucknow at their Noida campus from August 4 to 5, 2017.

The discussion and plenary sessions at IMC 2017 are moving on the theme 'Curriculum for New Era’. The conclave took a grand start at 9.30 AM on August 4, 2017 with the welcome address by Mr Amit Agnihotri, Convener, Indian Management Conclave and Chairman MBAUniverse.com followed by Inaugural Address by Mr Raman Roy, Chairman, NASSCOM, key note address by Dr Kulwant Singh, Deputy Dean, NUS Business School, Singapore; special address by Dr KRS Murthy, Former Director, IIM Bangalore and host Address by Dr Ajit Prasad, Director, IIM Lucknow.

IMC 2017 has 2 plenary sessions on day 1
There were 2 plenary sessions on the very first day of IMC 2017 as well as the case study presentations by the finalists of IMC 2017 awards.

Plenary session 1 focused on the theme ‘Top Skills Employers want from MBA Class of 2020’ and  shared in the context of changing business landscape, what skills do Indian recruiters currently look for when they hire MBAs from B-school Campuses? Looking into the future, what skills will they expect from MBAs say five years from now? And how should B-schools rethink their Curriculum to produce more effective managers.

Exploring the answers to these vital issues, this panel chaired by Dr Anandi S Pande, professor IIM Lucknow and Covener IIM Jammu, featured India’s leading MBA recruiters as panel speakers, namely Mr Raj Raghavan, Director - Human Resources, Asia Pacific Region, Amazon; Mr Sundar Mahalingam, Chief Strategy Officer, HCL Corp; Mr Yuvaraj Srivastava, Group CHRO, MakeMyTrip.com.

Plenary 2 session on the theme ‘MBA Curriculum for the New Era: Getting the Content right’ envisioned the future of new batch of graduates from the business schools entering the workforce. What skills will employers value most? How will their careers be different from those of graduates today? What kinds of curriculum content will these graduates need to excel? In this Plenary 2, B-School leaders reflected on industry voices from Plenary 1, dipped into their research and understanding, and shared their views on what should be the focus of curriculum content in core courses and electives at our B-schools.

The session was chaired by Dr KRS Murthy, Former Director, IIM Bangalore and the panel speakers who shared their vision included Dr Debashis Chatterjee, Director General, IMI New Delhi; Dr Sanjay Kallapur, Deputy Dean, Faculty and Research, Indian School of Business (ISB) and Dr Madhu Veeraraghavan, Director, TAPMI

IMC Awards 2017: Finalist B-schools present case study
The finalist B-schools for IMC Awards 2017 made Case Study Presentations on the themes ‘Developing a Future-ready Curriculum’ . the session was chaired by Dr CP Shrimali, Director, MDI Gurgaon. Case presenters were Dr Kasturi Das, Faculty-in-Charge, Sustainability & Social Responsibility, IMT Ghaziabad. He presented on the case title “I’M The Change – An Initiative on Sustainability & Social Responsibility.”

Dr R Raman, Director,  Symbiosis Institute of Business Management (SIBM), Pune presented on the case title Inspiring Equipping & Enabling Youngsters to be Job Creators.

Additional Case Presenters were selected by IMC Award Jury From Round 2 Presentations on August 3 from following participating institutions Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) Ahmedabad; IFIM Business School Bangalore; Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) Chennai; MYRA School of Business Mysore; Symbiosis Centre for Management and Human Resource Development (SCMHRD) Pune and Xavier Institute of Management Bhubaneswar (XIMB).

Corporate leaders suggest best use of technology
Special session on Leveraging Technology in Business Education was addressed by Mr P Dasgupta, IBM Career Education; Mr Vikram Shah, Director, Product Management, GMAC  and Mr Aditya Malik, CEO & MD, Talentedge.

The session focused on how can B-schools leverage Education Technology in areas like Admission-management, Program delivery and Offering new courses in domains like Data Analytics? How do B-schools stand to benefit? The Sector experts shared their insights and tools.

Session on National & International Accreditation for B-schools 
Accreditation session was organized on the topic ‘Accreditation Standards for Management Education’ for the benefit of B-schools. In last decade, Accreditation has become one of the top agendas for B-school leadership in India, utilizing significant time and resources. More than 75 B-schools are pursuing top 2 International accreditations from either AACSB or EFMD. A large number of B-schools are pursing national accreditation from NBA and NAAC. Oflate there have been changes in the accreditation standards and norms.

How can B-schools reorganize their accreditation journey? What advice can Heads of Top Accreditation bodies offer? Also, how can B-schools leverage technology for making faster progress?  This special panel discussion offered answers to these vital questions.

Session was Chaired by Dr AK Nassa, Member Secretary, National Board of Accreditation (NBA), New Delhi and the key panel speakers included Ms Annie Lo, Senior VP & Chief Officer for Asia Pacific, AACSB International; Mr Nishit Jain, Special Advisor, Asia, EFMD and Mr Benjamin Stévenin, CEO, RimaOne.
