CAT 2017: 43 days online Registration window finally opens; first clarify all key points

The 43 days online CAT 2017 registration window has finally begun today on August 9, 2017 at 10AM. Experts suggest to go through the CAT 2017 registration instructions and CAT Registration guide before proceeding to fill up the CAT 2017 registration and application form.
CAT 2017 Online Registration opens
You are supposed to go through the documents of CAT 2017 registration guide and the CAT 2017 registration video on CAT website iimcat.ac.in

After 10 days of waiting period from the CAT 2017 Notification release date on July 30, the 43 days online CAT 2017 registration window has finally begun today on August 9, 2017 at 10AM. Experts suggest to go through the CAT 2017 registration instructions and CAT Registration guide before proceeding to fill up the CAT 2017 registration and application form.

The CAT registration process is proposed to be closed on September 20 at 5 PM by IIM Lucknow.  All the key details and procedure have already been announced and made available at iimcat.ac.in by the CAT 2017 exam convening IIM Lucknow.

IIM Lucknow released the CAT 2017 exam notification on July 29 online and published the CAT 2017 notification in news papers on July 30, 2017.  The CAT 2017 notification release as well as the CAT website has informed about the key dates related to CAT exam.

Pay Rs. 1800/- for CAT 2017 Registration
The CAT 2017 registration facility is totally online. IIM Lucknow has increased the CAT 2017 Registration fee by Rs.100/-. Now you will have to shell out Rs.1800/- to register for CAT 2017 as against Rs.1700/- which was the registration fee for CAT 2016. The CAT 2017 registration fee for reserved category candidates has been increased to Rs. 900/-.

Follow CAT 2017 Registration Guide and Video
Till late evening on August 8, IIM Lucknow did not launch the CAT 2017 registration guide and registration video since both the tools had to be activated with the beginning of CAT 2017 registration. You are supposed to go through the documents of CAT 2017 registration guide and the CAT 2017 registration video on CAT website iimcat.ac.in.

Along with opening the registration process, the registration video and specific registration guidelines to apprise CAT 2017 aspirants about the process are now launched on CAT 2017 website. The registration process is more aspirant friendly.

Carefully read the instructions
Before beginning the registration process it is advisable to read and understand the CAT 2017  registration guide and watch the video so that you do not miss any important point. Also avoid making any mistakes during the registration process as it may cost you re-registration and payment of fee again.

Check CAT registration Default time
While filling up the details of the registration and application for CAT 2017, the maximum time in single sitting allowed is 30 minutes. In case candidates are not able to register during the prescribed time limit, they will have to login again. However they can save the data and complete the registration in steps.

CAT Registration Online only
IIM Lucknow has kept the entire registration process for CAT 2017 purely on-line and candidates have to pay the CAT 2017 registration fee of Rs.1800/- through various online instruments like Credit/Debit cards; net banking among others.

The off-line voucher purchase process for CAT exam was scrapped totally in CAT 2014 and now only the online system continues.  

Choose 4 preferred test cities
During the registration process candidates will have the liberty to choose the 4 most preferred test cities out of 140 CAT 2017 exam centres available across the country. CAT Centre 2017 at IIM Lucknow will make its best efforts to allot the preferred test centre as applied for subject to availability.

Women candidates to get test centre in city
CAT Centre 2017 proposes to assign a test centre to the female candidates in the city area to encourage them to take the test. This will increase the participation of more female aspirants in CAT 2017 and will help in improving the gender diversity in IIM class rooms. The absentee ratio used to be higher among female CAT takers till now. The process of test site allotment to female candidates in the city area was started in 2015 and proved to be a great success. The move will now increase the attendance of females in the exam.

Successfully submit CAT registration form  
If your CAT 2017 registration application has been submitted with successful online payment of examination fees, you will be able to see application summary and will be able to download the same.  Else, upon login, you will continue to see the five tabs of the Application Form.

Click on submit button only when satisfied
If you click on submit button you will not be able to rectify any errors made during CAT 2017 registration process. So please do not click on submit button till you are satisfied that you have entered the correct data. 

The admit cards for CAT 2017 will be available from October 18, 2017 onwards and will have to be downloaded from CAT 2017 website.

CAT 2017will be a single day 2 session exam and will be held on Sunday November 26, 2017 across the country at more than 650 testing venue. The shortlisted candidates on the basis of CAT 2017 scores will have the opportunity to get admission in one of the 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) in 2018 and other top B-schools like FMS Delhi, SPJIMR Mumbai, MDI Gurgaon, IMI New Delhi, IMT Ghaziabad, JBIMS Mumbai, TAPMI Manipal among hundreds of others.  It is expected that more than 2 lacs candidates will register for CAT 2017.
