NMIMS team wins L'Oréal Brandstorm 2008 Finals; to represent India in Paris

Global cosmetic major L'Oréal announced Team Chrysanthemum from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), Mumbai as the winner of L'Oréal Brandstorm, India 2008.

The winning team will represent India at the 16th International Finals to be held in Paris on June 10th 2008. The dynamic international marketing game saw overwhelming participation from B-School students. 

L'Oréal Brandstorm is a prestigious international marketing competition that challenges students to take on the role of a L'Oréal brand manager, providing the opportunity for students to interact with L'Oréal brand and product managers. Students use their marketing knowledge and creativity to develop an international brand strategy, design new packaging and develop a real communication campaign. 

The winning team from NMIMS, Mumbai "Team Chrysanthemum" was coached by Professor Mala Srivastava. The winning team was made up of 1st year students Ishani Behari, Anupam Haran and Sharad Sinha.  

This team will represent India and present their innovative marketing strategies to L'Oreal's CEO, Jean-Paul Agon, who, together with other senior L'Oreal Managers will Judge the International competition on June 10th 2008. 

In the competition, each team of 3 had to analyze & prepare a presentation on the case study of a brand, which this year was Capital Soleil, VICHY Laboratories, Active Cosmetics Division, L'Oréal. 

After going through tough elimination rounds, five B-school teams reached the National finals of Brandstorm. The finalists were: IIM- Ahmedabad, IIT/ SJMSOM - Mumbai, two teams from NMIMS, Mumbai and SCMHRD- Pune. The B- school students competed in the National finals on the grounds of creativity, market analysis, coherence with brand values, communication skills and team spirit.  

The National Finals jury included from L'Oréal, the Managing Director, COO, Director - Human Resources, Director- Active Cosmetics Division, Senior Product Manager - Active Cosmetics Division and special jury members :  Director - International Recruitment for the L'Oréal Group and CEO Euro RSCG India . 

Sujata Tyagi, Director Human Resources said: "L'Oréal Brandstorm provides a platform for the students to showcase their creative talent. It gives us an opportunity to watch them in action proposing new product lines, packaging designs, marketing strategies & advertising campaigns. Brandstorm is a high-involvement HR initiative which spans over 9 months engaging the student community & the professors through rigorous elimination rounds." 

L'Oréal initiated 'Brandstorm' in 1993 with 2 fundamental strategic priorities: to identify and attract the best branding and marketing talent, to contribute to the world of academia by using the medium of the existing brands to create a simulation environment for the students to learn in.

Ever since, 'L'Oréal Brandstorm' has attracted thousands of students from across the globe.  Till date, globally, an impressive total of more than 27,000 students from 200 schools from 35 countries around the globe have participated in the competition.
