The international offers continued to pour in on Slot One with companies like ICICI Bank, UAE Exchange, and others recruiting IIMB students in huge numbers. The average domestic salary of the batch increased tremendously.

This year also witnessed the consulting major Oliver Wyman recruiting students for the first time.

Overall, 37% of the batch accepted a position in a consulting career, known for its demand for multi-functional skills, cutting across Finance, Strategy and Marketing. This, IIM-B says was again the highest across IIMs and a testimony to the pedigree of students at IIM-B. The other sectors that have seen significant number of positions being offered include Finance (19%), Investment Banking (21%), Marketing (7%), IT (6%), Operations, Lifestyle and General Management (10%).

International firms like Blackstone Group, Olivery Wyman, ING Asia, PRTM Consulting, Deutsche Bank Corporate Finance, Aloe Group, Caterpillar, John Deere, and Lebua Hotels visited the campus for the first time. Arthur D Little, Arqaam Capital and UAE Exchange International offered positions in Dubai and the middle-east, increasing the global reach of students.

Private Equity Firms like Blackstone Group, Aloe Group and Arqaam Capital that recruit for highly specialized positions.

Preferred B-School

IIM-B informs that several companies came to their campus alone for the Placement process, including Barclays Capital, Lehman IBD, BNP Paribas, Blackstone Group, and UAE Exchange.

Says IIM-B, "The exclusivity that IIM-B has seen, despite its relatively young genealogy, earmarks IIMB as the most preferred Indian B School for multinationals. Amidst concerns of global recession, investment banks re-affirmed their faith in IIM Bangalore and our students by taking part in the recruitment process without a drop in enthusiasm."

The recruiters praised the institute and its students. "As we expand our practice in India, IIM Bangalore will continue to be a key source of talent for us. As a day zero recruiter at IIM Bangalore, we have always found candidates who meet all our recruiting criteria around strong problem solving skills, good communication skills and leadership potential," said Mr. Vinod Nair, Managing Director, Diamond Consultants.
