With a view to attract MBA aspirants from 27 countries of Africa, Middle East, East Asia, and South Asia to study in India, Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) owner of the GMAT exam and NMAT by GMAC exam, has partnered with 9 leading B-schools of India to launch the ‘Study in India’ initiative. The initiative is supported by Ministry of Human Resources Development, Government of India, confirms GMAC.

The partnership of GMAC with leading B-schools in India proposes to open MBA admission and study opportunity for international aspirants in top rated IIMs, ISB, SPJIMR, XIMB, IMT among other leading B-schools.

At present the top B-schools in India including IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, ISB Hyderabad, SPJIMR Mumbai and others have negligible number of international students and the strength of such MBA students runs in a single digit in their class rooms.

Students from Middle East, Africa to get admission in top B-schools
‘Study in India’ initiative is expected to build and strengthen preference for Indian B-schools in international markets. MBA aspirants from the 27 countries in Africa, Middle east, South Asia, East Asia can now log on to the Study in India website, www.mba.com/studyinindia, and will have the option to secure admission in any of the following 9 GMAC partner  B-schools in India using their GMAT scores.

The 9 business schools associated with the ‘Study in India’ initiative are:

  1. Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA)
  2. Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIMB)
  3. Indian School of Business (ISB)
  4. Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore)
  5. Xavier University Bhubaneswar (XUB)
  6. SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR)
  7. Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS)
  8. Great Lakes Institute of Management (GLIM)
  9. IMT Ghaziabad

India to become Global Education Hub
Commenting on the GMAC initiative ‘Study in India’ Mr. Sangeet Chowfla, president and CEO of GMAC said, “India has all the elements in the making of becoming a global education hub because it has the unique advantage of providing world class, high quality education at affordable prices.  Students across these emerging markets will now have access to some of these top business schools, which are globally accredited, have superior infrastructure, faculty and curriculum.”

Sharing the USPs of the Initiative launched with the support of Ministry of HRD, Govt of India, Mr Chofla added “Study in India intends to connect international talent and aspiration with the right opportunity on India’s B-school campuses. We would also like to thank the Ministry of Human Resources Development and our partner schools for their support in making this initiative a reality. We are positive that the Study in India initiative will assist business schools in creating a larger and much diverse international talent pool, while offering students a high- impact learning experience.”

‘Study in India’ to improve diversity at B-schools
The initiative ‘Study in India’ launched by GMAC in partnership with leading B-schools of India, also holds strategic promise for Indian management education as  a rise in enrollment may lead to an increase in student diversity at these B-schools, enhancing the overall classroom experience for students.

All the partnering 9 B-schools find the initiative a step taken in right direction as it will enhance learning experience in class rooms and will attract international MBA aspirants to study in India.
