CAT 2017 Registration Last date extended to September 25 till 5PM; thousands to benefit, don’t miss

As predicted by MBAUniverse.com earlier, IIM Lucknow has extended the CAT 2017 registration last date to September 25, 2017. IIM Lucknow accedes to CAT aspirants’request
The prime reason for the CAT 2017 registration date extension has been cited as the technical glitch due to which CAT aspirants are not able to finalise their CAT 2017 registration process and have requested the CAT 2017 exam convener to extend the CAT registration date.

CAT 2017 convener Prof Neeraj Dwivedi, while announcing the extension of CAT 2017 registration last date has shared the important announcement on CAT 2017 website, “The last date of registration has been extended to September 25, 2017 (5:00 pm). Candidates are advised to register and complete their applications well before this date. There will be no further extension.”

Past Trends in CAT registration last date extension
For the consecutive third year and following the last two years process, CAT 2017 Registration and application last date has been extended for 5 more days by IIM Lucknow till September 25, from earlier September 20, 2017.

Now the candidates who could not register in time or are facing technical glitches while completing their registration process, may relax and finalise their CAT 2017 registration process in next 5 days. Please however, note that the extended time for CAT 2017 registration stands only upto 5PM on September 25.

Since 2014, it has become a yearly practice followed by CAT convening IIMs to extend or reopen the CAT registration for few more days. IIM Indore, the CAT 2014 convener reopened the CAT registration after the last date; IIM Ahmedabad, the CAT 2015 convener extended the CAT last date to apply; IIM Bangalore, the CAT 2016 convener also extended the CAT registration date by 5 days.

CAT 2017: 48 days Registration window
CAT 2017 registration window, including the extended period of 5 days remains open for 48 days. During the past years, CAT registration has remained open for more than 50 days. Accordingly, the CAT 2017 registration window is the shortest during last 3 years. 

The registration process for CAT 2017 was opened on Aug 9, 2017 at 10AM and the last date to register was Sept 20, 2017 till 5PM. However, IIM Lucknow the CAT 2017 convening IIM has announced an extension of 5 days following the last year CAT registration extension process which was also extended by 5 days.

It appears that requests by the candidates in regard to technical glitches and slow processing by server might have compelled IIM Lucknow to extend the last date or it might be due to anticipated dip in number of registrations.

It appears that the kind gesture of CAT 2017 convening IIM Lucknow comes in the wake of heavy rush of CAT 2017 aspirants during the last week of registration. Probably, due to the grievances from thousands of prospective CAT 2017 takers for not being able to register and apply on-line in time might have caused the extension of few days in CAT 2017 registration date.

CAT 2017 aspirants who couldn’t complete their registration process till September 20, 2017 due to one or other problem will now have another opportunity to complete the registration process for CAT 2017 till 5 PM on September 25, 2017.

Key points to remember

• For CAT 2017 all the aspirants need to register on line and have to pay the necessary registration fee of Rs. 1800/- or Rs. 900/- as per the applicant’s category, on-line only through credit cards, net banking facility
• Payment of CAT 2017 registration fee is to be made after completing and inserting all the details in the last part of the registration form. It has saved aspirants from losing the money at the time of beginning of registration process.
• Allotment of test centre and slot to appear in CAT 2017 exam will be made by IIMs after the registration process is closed.
• CAT 2017 will be conducted in a single day on November 26, 2017 in 2 sessions (Morning and afternoon) only
• The facility to correct certain errors in CAT 2017 registration form will be available in the first week of October, 2017.

No further extension: Warns CAT 2017 convenerCAT 2017 registration will not be extended any further beyond 5PM on September 25, 2017. The CAT 2017 centre has clarified, “Candidates are advised to register and complete their applications well before this date. There will be no further extension.”

Please do not therefore bank upon any possibility of further extension in CAT 2017 registration last date. The registration date will close on September 25, 2017 at 5 PM as has been the trend in last 3-4 years. In your benefit it will be better not to wait for the last date again and register well within time.
