CAT 2017 Registration
“We have extended the date to give them an opportunity to complete their applications and make payments” Prof Neeraj Dwivedi Convener CAT 2017

IIM Lucknow has extended the last date for CAT 2017 online registration and CAT application by 5 days to September 25 instead of earlier September 20. The basic reason behind the  extension of CAT 2017 registration date is to facilitate the applicants who are still in the process of completing their applications.

Allowing an extension of 5 days in CAT 2017 registration process, the CAT 2017 convener Prof Neeraj Dwivedi, faculty at IIM Bangalore has made it amply clear that the step has been taken to help those who have not been able to apply for CAT 2017 due to technical problem or some other issue but are keen to appear in CAT 2017. Sharing his response on compelling reasons for extending the last date of CAT 2017 registration process, Prof Dwivedi has clarified “There are a number of candidates who have registered but have not been able to complete the applications.  We have extended the date to give them an opportunity to complete their applications and make payments.”

Now one thing CAT 2017 aspirants have to make sure is that they must not expect any further extension and should finalize their registration preferably before September 25, 2017 and avoid the deadline as the last minute rush can again put them into technical glitches and they may miss the chance to get into any IIM or other top B-schools like FMS, IMI, IMT, MDI, NITIE, SPJIMR, TAPMI among others.

Already registered? Opportunity to make payment now
If you are an already registered candidate but have not made payment as yet for CAT 2017 registration fee, the work can be completed now without any delay. CAT 2017 exam convener has specially extended the CAT 2017 registration end date for you. In fact, CAT convener has acceded to the request of thousands of such candidates who have not completed their CAT registration process and despite filling up the registration details have not made the CAT 2017 registration/application fee payment till date.

This is the last opportunity to complete your application in next four days preferably avoiding the last day as heavy rush could create problem in transmitting your CAT fee payment.

New Candidate? Last chance to apply for CAT 2017
If you wish to apply for CAT 2017 but have missed the opportunity, you have 5 days before you to fill up your CAT 2017 online registration and application form till September 25, 2017. According to CAT 2017 exam convener, Prof Dwivedi, “The extended time window also allows new candidates to register in case they have missed out due to some reason.”

Avoid petty mistakes
It is very much necessary that you are clear on what you have to fill in the CAT 2017 registration form and how to complete it. Petty mistakes can lead you to go for re-registration as your earlier registration will become invalid and you may have to shell out another chunk of Rs.1800/-.

How to upload Photograph & signature

Check that the photo resolution is of minimum 150px.  CAT 2017 registration form wants you to upload your recent passport size photograph not larger than 80KB with dimension of 35mm X 45mm in .JPEG, .JPG formats.

The signature should be with the dimensions of 1000mm X 35 mm and the documents file format should be .jpg or .jpeg. The file size should not be more than 80KB. Apply early: Advice from CAT Convener
CAT 2017 convener Prof Dwivedi has advised the CAT aspirants to register early without waiting for the last date. In past also, CAT conveners had advised the candidates to adhere to following don’ts while going to finalize their CAT registrations-

  • Don’t wait till last day and register in advance
  • Don’t rule out the last day technical glitches
  • Don’t let your money stuck in transit on last day due to more response time
  • Don’t invite last minute inconvenience due to heavy rush that may increase load on servers
  • Don’t expect extension in last date of CAT 2017 registration

Register in advance and don’t wait for last date, is what Prof Neeraj Dwivedi, CAT 2017 Convener and faculty at IIM Lucknow has suggested to CAT 2017 aspirants as the last date could be marred with technical glitches.

The same advisory was issued by past CAT conveners - Prof Rajendra K. Bandi (Convener CAT 2016 and faculty at IIM Bangalore); Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay (CAT 2015 convener and faculty at IIM Ahmedabad). Prof Bandi advised the CAT aspirants “Going by the trends of previous years, there will be a huge surge in the number of registrations in the last 2-3 days, which increases the load on the servers, and can potentially impact the server response time. Therefore, candidates are strongly advised to register early and avoid last minute inconvenience.”

Last opportunity
CAT 2017 aspirants who couldn’t complete their registration process till September 20, 2017 due to one or other problem now have the last opportunity to complete the registration process for CAT 2017 till 5 PM on September 25, 2017.

In fact the CAT registration window whenever extended, the thought behind providing this facility is to accede to the candidates’ genuine request and help those who are serious on taking CAT exam and not for the candidates who are always late and are fond of getting into technical glitches at the last moment registration instead of finalizing the things well in time.

To avoid any sort of technical glitches at the last minute while uploading the documents, photograph or signature, the best is to submit it now.
