CAT 2017 Admit Card 7 days delay till Oct 25 put candidates in dilemma; know the implications

IIM Lucknow has announced 7 days delay in issue of CAT 2017 Admit card. Now the CAT 2017 Admit card will be available for view and download from October 25 instead of October 18. Announcing the CAT Admit Card delay, IIM Lucknow has informed “Candidates can download their Admit Cards for CAT 2017 from 25th October 2017 to 26th November 2017.” CAT exam Centre 2017 proposes to enable the CAT 2017 Admit card on CAT website iimcat.ac.in from 1PM onwards on October 25.

CAT Admit card Delay occurred in last 4 years

During the last 4 years, IIMs have resorted to delay in issue of CAT Admit Card. This feature has become a regular one since CAT 2014 when TCS took over as CAT testing partner to IIMs.

You will have to log onto the CAT website with your registered User ID and password. You will be eligible for the CAT Admit Card only upon correct submission of online application form. CAT Centre 2017 has clarified ‘You will receive an automated email confirmation upon successful submission.’

CAT Admit Card Delay: Implications
CAT 2017 aspirants are now in dilemma as they know nothing about the details in CAT Admit card. Since the CAT admit card is delayed by one week, there is no activity also they can initiate before the CAT admit card is made available

Travel Plan for CAT exam day! Unable to finalise
This is the MBA exam season and number of MBA exams as well as other competitive exams are taking place. Since you do not know anything about your Correct details as they will be marked in CAT Admit card, your test centre details, CAT exam time, you cannot make your travel plan at this stage.  

Since immediately after CAT 2017 exam, on following Sunday there is IIFT MBA entrance exam and thousands of aspirants also will appear in it. In case the allotted exam cities are different and are not according to the preferred test cities, the travel plan has to be rescheduled. It is not necessary that those coming from far off places may find timely accommodation in the trains of their choice.

Whether you have been allotted the CAT test centre as per your first choice or the subsequent ones out of the remaining three, will be known only when you view and download your CAT 2017 admit card on October 25.

How far is CAT Test venue? Unaware for one more week
It is not necessary that you can get very well approachable CAT test venue in the unknown test city. You need to finalize your accommodation well in time which is nearest to your test venue to avoid any traffic blues.

Your CAT exam time slot: Information in Admit Card only
Whether your CAT exam is scheduled in morning time slot or in afternoon CAT session on November 26, 2017 can only be known when you get access to your CAT admit card on October 25. If your CAT test venue is in nearby city, taking travel time of 1-2 hours and is in afternoon session you may not like to come a day before, but if it is in the morning session you need to arrive a day before, check the place where your CAT exam centre is located and get your-self accommodated at the most suitable place taking minimum travel time to the test venue.

Less time left to rectify errors in CAT Admit card 
Whatever you entered in your registration form, would be reflected in your CAT 2017 Admit Card. In case of any slightest wrong entry while completing the personal details, choice of 4 test cities among others, you may face a little more difficulty than you anticipated.

You may not be allowed to sit for the exam due to mismatch in spelling or may have to travel to some other destination to appear in CAT 2017 than what you thought would be the correct exam centre.

Still time: Check Application summary
You must have received an automated email confirmation upon successful submission of your application.  If you received the confirmation mail from CAT Centre 2017, all the details would be available in your application summary. Check each of the inserted details and if you find any one is wrong, immediately contact the help desk even before the CAT 2017 Admit card is issued.

Once the admit card is out on CAT 2017 website and available for download on October 25, there will be a great rush to CAT 2017 help desk and at that time it will be very difficult to get the things corrected in time.

Key Details to verify
The CAT 2017 Admit Card would contain your personal details along with other information. These personal details are very much important to verify and to confirm your candidature. You should therefore check whether you entered correctly your personal details like your name, father’s and mother’s name, academic qualification among others.

Your CAT 2017 admit card is supposed to contain all your personal details. Please check your CAT application summary and verify on October 25 with your CAT 2017 admit card against each item. In case of any mismatch you will have to go through the process of rectification through the CAT help desk. It may take some time and since time to get the errors rectified is left much less, you will have to be quick as full one week has been taken out of the CAT admit card availability period.

Please remember that you will be eligible for an Admit Card only upon successful submission of online application form. IIM Lucknow has clarified that “The admit card will be only available on the CAT Website when you log on using your CAT 2017 User ID.” No hard copy of CAT 2017 Admit card will be sent to you.
