CAT 2017 Mock after 10 days delay
However, IIM Lucknow the CAT 2017 convener has delayed this full length replica CAT Mock test by 10 days. Earlier, IIM Lucknow proposed to release the CAT mock test on October 18, now it is proposed to be released on October 28.

The CAT Convener at IIM Lucknow has stated to release the official CAT 2017 Mock in the last week of October, and a confirmation to this effect has been given on CAT 2017 website iimcat.ac.in, ‘A practice test will be available on the CAT website: www.iimcat.ac.in. You can familiarize yourself with the functionality and navigation of the actual exam. The CAT 2017 Mock Test link shall be available by the end of October 2017.’ October last week will also be over in next 4-5 days.

The official CAT 2017 Mock will contain all the working navigation tools. IIM Lucknow has not informed about the exact date of making available the CAT 2017 mock test and has only shared that the same will be available in the October end on the CAT website. The October end is not defined with the date and it could be on any date from October 28 to October 31.

Less than 1 month to understand CAT syllabus & CAT Exam pattern
Now CAT 2017 aspirants will have less than one month to understand the CAT exam format comprising MCQ & Non-MCQs and practice the questions based on the mock test to be uploaded on CAT 2017 website tomorrow or day after.

CAT Mock: Full length practice test
CAT 2017 Mock test by IIMs will be the full length sample practice test for CAT 2017 exam as has been done during previous 2 years of CAT in 2016 and 2015.

The full length mock test from IIMs for CAT 2017 is a very important practice test on the lines of CAT syllabus. Till date there is no authorised information from IIMs about the total number of  questions and their sectional division proposed to be placed in CAT 2017. During previous years since CAT was computerised, the total number of questions and their sectional division used to be shared alongwith the release of CAT notification.

However, this year Prof Neeraj Dwivedi, CAT 2017 convener and faculty at IIM Lucknow, has kept this information as confidential and has not disclosed the number of questions proposed to appear in CAT 2017. All the information and exact CAT exam pattern will be available only after the release of official CAT 2017 Mock test.

Now, with very little information available about the exact nature and composition of CAT 2017 questions, it will be necessary that the CAT practice test should be full length and should contain the number and composition of MCQs and Non-MCQs proposed to be placed in the CAT exam.

The full length official practice test for CAT 2017 would contain the same number and type of questions divided in the respective sections as would appear in CAT 2017 exam. CAT Mock will be a perfect tutorial to understand how you should attempt the CAT exam. Key contents and highlights of CAT 2017 Mock are:

• Total questions divided in 3 sections – VARC; DILR and Quant
• Mock test will begin in the same order- Section-1-VARC; Section-2-DILR and Section-3-Quant

• 60 minutes for each section to solve will be allowed

CAT 2017 aspirants waiting for CAT Mock
Candidates are in dark about the composition of questions in CAT 2017. Unless the practice test is enabled, it will not be possible for the aspirants to know the exact CAT exam pattern. Now the publishing of new exam pattern and practice test will help not only the first timers in CAT 2017 but also those who have been burning mid night oil to crack CAT 2017.

Last year also CAT aspirants had to wait as the practice test was enabled on October 25,  instead of on October 18.

According to Prof S K Agarwal, expert on Verbal Ability and mentor for CAT 2017 preparation, candidates may expect any form of surprise element in exam contents. The questions in CAT 2017 may be twisted. Standard type of questions which the candidates normally see in the test may disappear  and questions in different format may appear.

Going by the reputation of CAT testing pattern, surprise elements appear in CAT every year even when there is no change in exam pattern. Now with so many changes especially when CAT 2017 has not shared anything about the number of total or sectional composition of questions, a candidate should expect more twists and turns in the test content.

CAT 2017 exam on November 26 will be a 3 hours computer based exam with individual sectional time constraint of 60 minutes. It will be a single day 2 session exam to be held on Sunday, November 26, 2017 in 144 test cities. CAT 2017 is the mandatory entrance test for admission to PGP/MBA 2018-20  batch in 20 IIMs and other top rated B-schools like FMS Delhi, SPJIMR, MDI, IMI, IMT, JBIMS, BIMTECH, TAPMI, XIMB among others.
