Over 700 students awarded diplomas and honours at IMT Convocation

The convocation ceremony of Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Ghaziabad and Nagpur was held on March 18, 2008 at the Ghaziabad Campus.

Mr N R Narayana Murthy, Chairman of the Board and Chief Mentor of Infosys Technologies was the guest of honour, presided over 1,000 people on the ceremony. Mr Kamal Nath, President, IMT Ghaziabad and Union Minister of Commerce and Industry awarded over 700 Post-Graduate degrees and diplomas to the students of IMT Ghaziabad and Nagpur. 

Mr Subhinder Singh Prem, Managing Director, Reebok India received the Distinguished Alumni Award on the Convocation '08. The Distinguished Alumni Award was instituted in the year 2005 by IMT, Ghaziabad, and had earlier gone to Mr Rajeev Karwal, Mr Prasoon Joshi, Mr Ravi Soni, Mr Arshi Narang and Mr Abhijeet Dutta Ray.

Meritorious students from both the campuses also received gold and silver medals on the occasion. 

While delivering the Keynote address, Mr Narayana Murthy urged the students to identify as Indians first and foremost and to rise above affiliations to religions, castes, and regions and put in the interest of the nation ahead of personal interests.

Wishing success to the students, Mr Kamal Nath said, "My wish for the students is that they become leaders in every sense; and in achieving their own success, they fulfill the dreams that the people of this country have dared to dream – dreams which have already begun to take shape".

On the occasion, Dr B S Sahay, Director, IMT, Ghaziabad presented the annual report 2007-2008 and highlighted the progress made by the institute in the last year and the high standing it has earned for academic excellence, research contributions, executive development and industry interface. 

Congratulating the students of IMT Nagpur, Dr Anwar Ali, Director, IMT Nagpur said, "We worked hard to equip you with the necessary qualities of leadership, teamwork and a never ending thirst of knowledge. You go into the corporate world as brand ambassadors."
