Ironically, when JBIMS participates in DTE-CAP round, the exam scores accepted by this B-school are more but when it conducts its own admission process it accepts only two exams – MAHCET and CAT. JBIMS increases fee by 300%
JBIMS Mumbai has remained the most preferred campus for MBA aspirants due to its legacy, high industry connect, good placements and low fee structure controlled and regulated by ‘Shikshan Shulka Samiti (SSS)’ of Government of Maharashtra.

However, after being awarded the autonomous status, JBIMS has suddenly got out of the DTE-Maharashtra control and increased its fee by 300% last year.

Revised Annual Fee for MMS

Announcing the substantial hike in fee, JBIMS Mumbai released the brief note on ‘Revision of MMS Course Fees from the academic year 2017-18’ stating “Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (Autonomous) announces the revision of course fees for its 2-year Masters in Management Studies (MMS) Programme. From the year 2017-18 onwards, the revised fees will be INR 3 Lakhs p.a for General Students.

Apart from the domestic general category candidates JBIMS has increased the fee for NRI/PIO candidates as well and had informed “For NRI/FN and PIO students will be charged twice the amount of fee for General Students i.e. INR 6 lakhs p.a.” It means the 2 years MMS programme fee for the NRI/FN and PIO students will stand increased to Rs. 12 lakhs.

In terms of percentage hike in fee structure, JBIMS has left behind the IIMs who have resorted to 10 to 20% fee hike periodically. The 300% fee hike at JBIMS is the only example of steep fee increase in MBA/MMS/PGDM programmes. Read more

JBIMS with only 8 Core faculty members
Stuck to its intake of 120 students in each academic session, JBIMS Mumbai has good industry connect and large alumni base due to its legacy. One of the surprising factors in learning process at JBIMS is that it has only 8 permanent core faculty members on its roll.

However, the number of visiting faculty from corporate and industry is more than 60. This number drives the students towards high industry exposure that attracts more students at JBIMS, Mumbai.

Rising Placements: Key attraction
JBIMS Mumbai is termed as ‘CEO producing factory’ by its students. The MBA college not only achieves 100% placement every year, the salary in each placement season goes on rising. Placement 2017 at JBIMS has recorded an average salary of Rs. 18.76 lakhs and highest salary of Rs.34.30 lakhs.

Admission 2018 Announcement
In case JBIMS decides to adopt its own admission process for MMS 2018-20 batch, it would announce its admission criteria in the last week of December 2017. But, if JBIMS decides to participate in CAP 2018 to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra, the admission process may be delayed and is expected to be announced in the last week of February, 2018.

The reason behind this gap is that MAHCET 2018 exam is proposed to be held in the 1st week of March 2018 and the CAP 2018 is proposed in the last week of May 2018. The candidates are allotted seat in the MBA college according to their merit and they need not apply separately for the courses governed by DTE-Maharashtra.

15% seats available for All India candidates at JBIMS
There will be 18 seats for the All India category candidates for admission to MMS 2018-20 at JBIMS. Their merit list and cut offs are separately prepared by DTE Maharashtra.

Education at JBIMS is not limited to conventional class room experience. It is coordinated with vast industrial exposure also. Students at JBIMS find great merit while studying at the B school and share that studying at JBIMS is an altogether different experience.
