Now you do not need to study unlimited wide and vast topics to crack the General Knowledge section in SNAP 2017. On the contrary, The General Knowledge section has been much simplified in SNAP since last year by totally revamping the section and offering good opportunity to score high and improve your percentile.

SNAP 2017 has sectional cut offs
There are four sections in SNAP 2017 online computer based test. GK in SNAP is a separate section and the candidates have to clear also the cut offs in the GK section of SNAP 2017 to get into the top Symbiosis MBA programme.

SNAP GK: 20% weightage in SNAP 2017 exam
Current affairs or GK questions in SNAP 2017 carry 20% weightage in overall SNAP 2017 exam. The GK current affairs section in SNAP will consist of 30 questions with 30 marks out of  maximum 150 marks for the entire SNAP 2017 exam. All the current GK questions will be in MCQ format.

Earlier SNAP GK section used to have 40 questions carrying 40 marks out of total 180 maximum marks in SNAP test. This pattern along with SNAP GK Syllabus has been changed since last year.

SNAP GK Syllabus: Limited to last 2 years of study
As against other exams where no GK syllabus or GK study material is defined, SNAP has clearly provided the framework of your GK study by limiting it to last 2 years of current affairs. No better opportunity than provided in SNAP test structure may be available to crack and improve your score by preparing effortlessly for GK which forms an important and integral part of the exam.

Following are the major GK topics in SNAP 2017 GK Syllabus

  1. Key changes in Who’s who at the National and International level as well as other topics like innovations, discoveries, books, authors, personalities, news about particular country, it capital and currency.
  2. Business, Finance & Economy based during last 2 years
  3. Last 2 years Current Affairs India (Political, Social, Sports, Films, awards etc.)
  4. Last 2 years International (personalities-Present, Sports, global events etc.)

Each part needs due weightage. Current GK is based on current reading of newspapers and periodicals; Business & Economics GK reflect the changes in Fiscal and monetary policy, CRR, Repo Rate, Devaluation and up valuation of Rupee.

Please remember current GK-whether Business, national and international has an on-going preparation method and thorough reading of the newspaper only can keep you updated.  However, now you need a comprehensive year book like Manorama Year Book 2018 and good bi-monthly periodical to brush up what you have already studied.

In the revamped SNAP exam pattern, you need not study the conventional or the national & global happenings which go back beyond 2 years. Termed as ‘Current Affairs’ this General Knowledge section in SNAP 2017 will require you to study all the happenings – national or global upto past 2 years. Accordingly, your SNAP study material and study period is specified now and you can limit your studies by changing your preparation strategy.

2015 to 2017: Your period of SNAP GK preparation
According to SNAP 2017 preparation expert and mentor Prof S K Agarwal, To be on safer side,  your study of SNAP Current Affairs for GK should include the period beginning from the second half of 2015 to the 1st week of December, 2017. You need not prepare your Current Affairs part for the period before 2015 nor beyond 1st week of December 2017 as the test paper for SNAP 2017 is prepared by then.

You may not expect a question on ‘what happened in 2010 or 2011’ in SNAP 2017 exam, but you must go through the minute details of what happened during 2015 to 2017.

In the changed pattern, with one week regular study of 1 hour, dedicted to SNAP GK only, you can add 30 marks to your score in SNAP 2017.

SNAP 2017: GK Study material
The best books and study material to prepare for SNAP GK current affairs is the latest Manorama Year Book for 2017 and 2016. Bothe editions of the Manorama year book 2017 and Manorama year book 2018  contain all the details on Current Affairs for SNAP exam. Not only this, you may find latest GK topics on which latest GK questions are framed for MBA exams.

Manorama year book has been recommended by preparation experts as the Best Book for GK and Current Affairs for MBA. According to the experts, following is the best GK study material for SNAP exam:

However, as suggested by experts, your SNAP GK preparation should be limited to past 2 years of minute study as questions could be from any area of current affairs.

Aspirants preparing for SNAP 2017 should understand that they have to change their preparation strategy to ace the GK section in view of the changes else they will be beating about the bush and may lose their score instead of gaining from this revamped section which carries 30 MCQs with a weightage of 30 marks out of total 150 in the test.
