IIM Amritsar has brought many changes in the selection process as below:

1.1 Changes in IIM Amritsar Shortlisting Criteria
IIM Amritsar shortlisting criteria is as below:

1.1.1 CAT Cut Off: CAT exam score cut off is 88%ile. It is much less than the CAT cut off 94%ile as is decided for CAP participating IIMs.

1.1.2 CAT Weightage in Shortlisting: Weightage for CAT score is 60% in shortlisting and No weightage in final selection

1.1.3 Academics, Gender Diversity, Work Ex to Get High Weight: IIM Amritsar will award a high weightage of 40% to these parameters to shortlist candidates for PI round

1.2 Changes in IIM Amritsar Final Merit List Generation
Important changes in IIM Amritsar selection criteria at the final merit generation are:

1.2.1 No Weight for CAT Score: In final selection criteria, IIM Amritsar will not award any weightage for CAT 2023 score

1.2.2 PI Gets Highest Weightage: IIM Amritsar will award 70% weight to the performance in PI round to generate final merit list

9. IIM Amritsar Admission Criteria
IIM Amritsar Admission 2024-25 will have following two stages

Stage-1: IIM Amritsar Shortlisting Criteria
IIM Amritsar will shortlist eligible candidates as per its admission policy and cut offs as below:

Stage-1.1: IIM Amritsar Cut off
IIM Amritsar cut off is applied as minimum eligibility criteria to consider the candidates for shortlisting for final selection round based on CAT cut off and other parameters. CAT 2023 percentile score cut offs for the MBA 2024 admission will be applicable only to those candidates who score the minimum cut offs. IIM Amritsar shortlists the candidates if they clear the minimum cut offs. Only candidates with positive scores in all sections of the CAT 2023 exam are considered for the admission process.

VARC=Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension,  DILR=Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning;  QA=Quantitative Ability

The actual candidates shortlisted in stage 1 are based on CAT overall percentile score subject to the fulfillment of minimum eligibility criteria. Please note that actual cut off of candidates who receive a call for interview could be higher than the minimum eligibility criteria mentioned above.

Stage-1.2: IIM Amritsar Shortlist for Final Selection Round: Components & Weightage
Apart from CAT score cut offs, IIM Amritsar will shortlist the candidates for PI round, based on following components and will award weightage to each component as per its admission policy

The above process results in a list of candidates ranked in order of merit based on the above criteria. From the ranking list prepared by the process outlined above, a reasonable number of candidates will be called for PI based on the order of their rank.

Stage-2: Final Selection at IIM Amritsar
The stage-2 shortlist for the PI round will be applicable only for those candidates who meet the required CAT 2023 percentile cut off, other requirement and successfully complete the mandatory registration, by the last date announced by IIM Amritsar, for admission to MBA 2024. On completion of PI Round at IIM Amritsar, merit list will be prepared based on following components and respective weightage:

The aggregate composite score for each candidate is calculated based on the following formula-

Aggregate Score = 0.6 X Pre-PI Score + 0.4 X Post-PI Score
The final offers of admission to candidates selected from each category will be made strictly on the basis of the final rank based on aggregate score calculated as per above components

Candidates Exempted from PI round 

• Candidates who receive a call for interview by any one or more of the IIMs at Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow for their PGP/PGPM/MBA programs, are not required to appear for the personal interview of IIM Amritsar. For these candidates, their PI scores from the above IIMs are used.
• If a candidate is shortlisted for PI by IIM Kozhikode, her/his PI score of IIM Kozhikode will be used
• For all other candidates, the average of PI/WAT scores of appeared interviews from IIMs Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Lucknow are used
• Only those candidates who do not receive a call for interview from any of the IIMs at Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow and have registered for IIM Amritsar are required to appear for PI Round.

10. IIM Amritsar Eligibility criteria 2024

• 10.1 IIM Amritsar eligibility criteria require that the candidate must hold a bachelor's degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category, the eligibility criterion is relaxed to 45%
• 10.2 Candidates who graduated in the years 2020 or 2021 or in 2022, for whom the university did not conduct the exams or did not award marks or CGPA but awarded only pass or pass marks or promotion in one or more years/semesters of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification, can also apply. Such candidates will have to submit a certificate from the Principal/Registrar of his/her University/College/Institute stating that the university did not conduct the exams or did not award marks or CGPA but awarded only pass or pass marks or promotion in one or more years/semesters, as the case may be
• 10.3 The candidate should appear in CAT 2023 exam and must score minimum prescribed
• sectional and overall score to become eligible for admission at IIM Amritsar
• 10.4 If the candidate is awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence to determine PGP admission eligibility would be based on the equivalence certified by the institution/ university from where the bachelor's degree is obtained. In case the institution/university does not have any scheme for converting the CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by IIM Amritsar by dividing the obtained CGPA by the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying the resultant by 100 to confirm the Admission eligibility of the candidate. 
• 10.5 A candidate appearing for the final year bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed the degree requirements and are awaiting results is also eligible to apply for IIM Amritsar Admission 2023. Such a candidate must produce a certificate from the principal/head of the department/ registrar/director of the institution/university certifying that the candidate is currently in the final year or is awaiting final results and has obtained at least 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of the candidate belonging to SC/ST/PwD category) based on latest available grades/marks.
• 10.6 IIM Amritsar Eligibility criterion further clarifies that such a candidate, if selected, will become ineligible for the IIM Amritsar admission unless he/she submits a certificate latest by June 30, 2024 from the principal/head of the department/registrar/director of the institution/university (issued on or before June 30, 2024) stating that they have completed all the requirements (the result may, however, be awaited) for obtaining the bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate.
• 10.7 It is mandatory for a final year student, who is provisionally considered eligible by IIM Amritsar and offered admission, to submit the mark-sheet and degree certificate of the final year bachelor's degree examination held on or before June 30, 2024.  The deadline to submit the mark-sheet and the certificate is December 31, 2024. 

11. IIM Amritsar Admission 2024: Important Dates
All the candidates who have registered and applied for CAT 2023 and have opted for admission in IIM Amritsar in the CAT 2023 application form, and obtain the required cut off percentile, will be considered for next stage of IIM Amritsar Admission criteria.  Important dates including IIM Amritsar last date to apply for admission 2024 are as below:

There are many young students who wish to appear in CAT and apply for IIM Amritsar admission to pursue MBA but they are in the second year or third year of their bachelor’s degree course and are not eligible this year but can apply for IIM Amritsar admission 2025 through CAT 2024. IIM Amritsar admission 2025 process is likely to remain same as this year.

IIM Amritsar was set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development with the support of Government of Punjab in 2015. The permanent campus of the institute is being set up under the direction and mentorship of IIM Kozhikode. IIM Amritsar started operation in 2015 with 45 students in its 1^st batch. The present batch size at IIM Amritsar has grown up to more than 300 students.
