“Time has come to rethink the MBA curriculum and pedagogy and create the MBA 3.0” Amit Agnihotri, Founder & Convener of the Indian Management Conclave

Industry leaders, management thinkers and academicians are congregating at the 9th Indian Management Conclave (IMC), hosted by IIM Bangalore in association with MBAUniverse.com, on August 03 and 04, 2018, to deliberate on the theme of ‘MBA Pedagogy for 21st Century B-Schools’.

The world stands at the edge of an unprecedented technological revolution, also termed as the Fourth Industrial Revolution, that will fundamentally change the way we live, work, and do business. What will be the impact of this revolution on education, particularly management education? As the expectations of industry and learners change, how should the universities and B-schools reassess and revise their MBA programmes? IMC 2018 will discuss and document the MBA for the 21st Century.

Organized by MBAUniverse.com, IMC is an annual MBA education conference that brings together policy makers, industry and academia to debate on the most pressing issues on the subject. IIM Bangalore is the host and knowledge partner of IMC 2018.

The conference has a stellar line up of speakers including Professor G. Raghuram, Director, IIM Bangalore; Ravi Venkatesan, Chairman, Bank of Baroda; Kamal Bali, Managing Director, Volvo Group India; Rekha M. Menon, Chairman and Senior Managing Director, Accenture India; Krishnakumar Natarajan, Co-founder and Executive Chairman, Mindtree, and Dr Jikyeong Kang, President and Dean of Asian Institute of Management (AIM), Manila. Directors & Deans from 200 MBA colleges will attend the convention. Global influencers like Dr Scott DeRue, Dean, Stephen M. Ross School of Business, University of Michigan, and Jeff Maggioncalda, Chief Executive Officer, Coursera, will be addressing the conference via video from USA.

“We are now passing through the exciting times of the Fourth Industrial Revolution that is sweeping the world. In addition, India is passing through a period of unprecedented change that can perhaps be compared to the 1991 reforms. The business world will need managers and leaders who think and act differently from their 20th century peers. In this context, IMC 2018 has adopted a well-timed theme. IIM Bangalore is pleased to partner and host IMC 2018,” said Professor G. Raghuram, Director, IIMB.

In addition to discussions by CXOs and Management Thinkers, IMC 2018 will also highlight and award the best initiatives taken by B-schools to improve their MBA programmes.

Elaborating the initiative further, Amit Agnihotri, Founder & Convener of the Indian Management Conclave, said: “The current model of MBA education in India took shape in 1990s, when the number of MBA programmes jumped 10 times – from 200 to about 2,000 in just 10 years! Today, disruptive technologies like AI, VR, IoT, Machine Learning, Robotics, etc. are creating a radical shift in the way business is done. The time has come to rethink the MBA curriculum and pedagogy and create the MBA 3.0. IMC 2018 hopes to create a blueprint for this next generation MBA programme.”
