Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM-I) Director, Dr S P Parashar has decided to end his association with the institute.

Speaking to MBAUniverse.com, Dr Parashar confirmed the development and said, "Yes, I have resigned from IIM-I and will be leaving the institute on April 4, 2008." Dr Parashar has been credited with the turnaround of IIM-I. The institute made rapid progress under his leadership in last four years. His current term was officially scheduled to end in 2009.

Sources close to the development said that Dr Parashar has been offered a global assignment in United States. Dr Parashar however did not confirm his next move. Said Dr Parashar, "I have not yet decided whether I will go abroad or not."

Dr. Parashar's academic experience spans well over three decades. The youngest member of the IIM family (IIM-I was established in 1996) has expanded and notched up a creditable placement record. This year the placement season saw a big leap in the number of participating companies and increase in salary. The domestic salary has increased by more than 20% as compared to previous year.

On March 18, delivering his last convocation address at IIM-I, Dr Parashar said, "I am glad to inform you that the year 2007-08 will go in the history of IIM Indore as a year of transformation and consolidation. Our position has consolidated in terms of faculty strength, long term programs, MDP and In-company programs, research, consultancy, societal image and ranking. The transformation this year has focused on strengthening quality of teaching and training programs."

Even before he joined IIM-I, Dr. Parashar had an impressive list of credentials: he was head of research and studies at the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS), Sharjah, UAE; IFCI Golden Jubilee Chair Professor of Finance; chairman of management development programs at Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon; and faculty member at XLRI Jamshedpur and IGNOU, Delhi.
