Education at India's prestigious B-schools is set to become more expensive.

After three Indian Institute of Management (IIM)– Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta, IIM Indore too has decided to hike the fee for its flagship Post Graduate Programme (PGP) 2008-10. Dr S P Parashar, Director, IIM Indore, confirmed the development with MBAUniverse.com and said, "We have decided to increase the PGP fees by Rs 1.20 lakhs for the new academic session."

"For PGP, the fees for the first year will be Rs 3 lakhs and Rs 3.1 lakhs will be the fees for the second year," added Dr Parashar. The fee for PGP 2007 batch at IIM-I is Rs 1.90 per year.

When asked what is the reason behind the increase in fees at IIM-I, said Dr Parashar, "Other IIMs across the country are increasing their fees. So, we are also increasing our fees for the PGP this year."

Last year, IIM-I increased its fees to Rs 1.9 lakhs from Rs 1.5 lakhs for its PGP programme.

Talking about the academic calender, Dr Parashar said, "IIM indore has finished its GD and PI rounds. IIM I will start the new academic session 2008-10 from the middle of the June."
