Placements are on full swing at Hyderabad's indian School of Business (ISB). Over 190 companies have already registred for placement interviews, in comparision to last year's 143 companies.
The institute has witnessed various new trends: like, for instance, MNCs are in the process of recruiting graduates for senior positions in overseas offices; also, participation from ‘non-traditional’ sectors has increased this year.
There has been a significant increase in the number of overseas recruitments by MNCs. Some of the positions are at leadership levels, and these offers were over and above offers made by the India offices of these companies (these companies include Colgate-Palmolive Inc, Goldman Sachs International, Deutsche Bank AG, Booz Allen Hamilton (UK) Ltd, Mercer Management Consulting, and KPMG Australia.
For the first time in five years, ISB has attracted companies from Australia and Italy. Leading companies based in Germany, Switzerland, Middle East, the US, UK, Singapore etc are visiting the campus.
ISB has attracted several international and domestic companies from ‘non-traditional’ sectors – microfinance, NGO, real estate, retail, infrastructure and so on. These include companies like Holcim Ltd, Tischman Speyer, Italcementi S.p.A, Arcelor Mittal, Santos etc.
The placement process began with ISB’s Career and Alumni Services (CAS) team inviting companies. Companies were first invited to meet students through pre-placement talks. The interviews are presently underway, and will continue until the first week of April 2007. More companies will visit the ISB campus through the placement season.
Talking about Rolling Placements, M Rammohan Rao, Dean, ISB, said, “Our students are expressing immense confidence in making choices that suit long-term career prospects over immediate salaries. Taking a balanced view and opting for strong roles irrespective of the compensation is truly a mark of maturity.”
V K Menon, Director, Career Advancement Services, ISB, said, “Companies recruiting at ISB consider us as a strategic partner in their growth plans both in India as well as abroad. They get to recruit professionals who are on par with the best in the world. I believe there is an increasing trend of recognition of the Indian leadership potential.”ISB offers a one-year postgraduate program, short-duration, high-powered executive education programs for CEOs and senior executives; and a two-year research fellowship program. It has associations with the Kellogg School of Management, Wharton, and London Business School.
