JBIMS wins India round of Global Investment Challenge

The team from Mumbai based Jamanalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) emerged as the national winners in the India round of the Global Investment Research Challenge organised by the CFA Institute, USA.

The competition was held in Mumbai on March 29, 2008.

According to information shared by JBIMS with MBAUniverse.com, "The local rounds began in September and the team will now move on to the regional round (Asia Pac region) scheduled to take place on April 12, 2008 where it will compete with the winners from Singapore, Indonesia and Hong Kong. The other regions include Europe, New York and North America." The top 5 winners will then compete in New York on May 1, 2008.

The competition saw the teams from the leading Indian institutes like Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), Indian Institute of Management – Ahmedabad (IIM-A), Indian Institute of Management – Bangalore (IIM-B), Indian School of Business (ISB), Institute for Financial Management and Research, Management Development Institute (MDI), SP Jain Institute of Management and Research (SPJIMR) and Xavier Labour Relations Institute (XLRI).
 
The participation involves the application of best practices in the field of equity research and in the India round the teams had to analyse a leading Indian Media company.
 
According to JBIMS, 80 leading universities worldwide have participated in this contest. 

Commenting on his experience, Nikhil Salvi, member of the winning team said, "It was a great learning experience to apply what I've learnt at JBIMS in real life research on a national level. I really look forward to the next round where we can showcase our institute on a global level."
