the Board of Governors of IIM Indore has decided to appoint Prof Tapan Panda, Professor of Marketing at IIM Indore as the officiating Director of the IIM-I. He will take over this position from April 5, 2008 till the appointment of the new director of IIM Indore.
Official at IIM-I confirmed the decision while speaking to MBAUniverse.com and said, "IIM-I Governing Body has taken the decision that Prof Tapan Panda would assume the charge from April 5 till the appointment of a new director. The government has yet not taken any decision on the appointment of new Director of the IIM-I."
As reported earlier, Dr S P Parashar has decided to move on after his successfully four-year stint at IIM-I. His last working day was April 4. During his term, IIM-I successfully raised its profile and emerged as a fast growing top B-school.
Speaking to MBAUniverse.com on April 4, Dr S P Parashar said, "I have got many offers from various organisations, but I am still to take a decision. For the time being, I am going for one month of vacation."
Dr. Tapan K. Panda is working at IIM-I as a Professor in Marketing area. He has held many responsible positions in the Institute including Programme Director, BBB Programmes; Area Chair, Marketing; Chair, Research & Publications Committee; Editor, IMPACT and a Member of Board of Governors at IIM-I. Prior to joining IIM Indore, Prof. Panda has been faculty member of Indian Institute of Management Lucknow and Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode.
