LBSIM hold its annual Convocation; Dr Kiran Bedi inspires graduating class

Delhi based Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management (LBSIM) held its annual convocation on March 28.

Magsaysay Awardee Dr. Kiran Bedi, IPS (Retd.) presided over the convocation. On the occasion the Dr. Bedi, gave away the awards and medals to the meritorious students of LBSIM. The successful candidates were also conferred their degrees and and diplomas during ceremony. 

Delivering the Convocation Address, Dr. Kiran Bedi while highlighting the values and ethics of late Prime Minister Shri Lal Bahdur Shastri, advised the graduating students to uphold the values and ethics of the institute. She advised the young management-graduating students to take up jobs in NGO's, Municipal Bodies and other neglected areas. She also advised to take up the internship in areas such as police station, education department, courts and other social sector. This will help them to know the actual happening in the sector.  

Dr Bedi gave the slogan "Jai Siksha Jai Krishi" while stressing the importance of education; she quoted extensively statistics from China, Japan and South Korea comparing with the progress in education in India and stresses the need to accelerate the pace of primary and professional education.

Shri Anil Shastri Former Union Minister and Chairman, Board of Governors, LBSIM. Speaking on the occasion, he briefly talked about the life and times of Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastriji, about the institute and the values and qualities it inculcates in the students preparing them to face the challenges in their professional life as managers. Giving his blessings to the students for successful completion of the course he wished them a rewarding managerial career.  

While presiding over the convocation Dr. R.L Raina, Director, LBSIM, gave a brief overview of significant achievements of the Institute during the last year. He also mentioned about the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award, which was presented to Dr. M.S. Swaminathan in 2007. While congratulated the graduating students, Dr. Raina advised them about the importance of integrity, values and time in their professional career ahead.     

According to information shared by LBSIM, Ms. Namrita Negi was presented the Gold Medal for securing 1st Rank. Mr. Sunil Batra was given the Smt. Lalita Shastri Medal for overall performance and Ms. Manica Abbot got the Amit Chopra Medal for her contribution in the field of social welfare during her stay at the institute. Ms. Mansi Malhotra also got Gold Medal for securing 1st Rank in Post Graduate Diploma in Management 2004-2007 Batch.
