Students of DMS, IIT Delhi extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire panel for taking their time out and sharing their valuable views

The Department of Management Studies, IIT Delhi organized Confluence '15, the annual Finance & Marketing Conclave on September 12, 2015. The first session was marketing oriented based on the theme "Target Marketing: Emerging Trends in Optimizing Business". The panel chair was Prof. Dr. P. VigneswaraIlavarasan and the panelists for the session were:

•    Mr. Manohar Bhat, VP (Marketing),Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.
•    Mr. Parveen Sahni, Head-Marketing, Canon India Pvt Ltd
•    Mr. Sreekanth Lapala, VP-Outsourcing Transformation Services, Virtusa

The session started with the panelists giving a brief introduction of their companies, and the marketing strategies employed. Ms. Manisha stated that Magicbricks has both online and offline marketing team.It is very imperative to be aware, given the dynamic nature of real estate business.Mr Rishi revealed that at HP they have to maintain the top line and the bottom line of products. He emphasized the importance of digital marketing, which has emerged as the best way of reaching out to the youth of country.Ms. Antara explained how every day at an advertising agency is a challenge, and the task at hand is new, but it’s fun to work. Dr. Sanjeev stated thatBrand management was the key area in the pharmaceutical industry which he focused upon. Mr. Manohar, who leads both the product development and the marketing business of Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. elaborated on how they have to research and strategize in advance about the customer requirements four years down the line. Mr. Praveen gave the gist of marketing strategy in form of 4 E’s; Create Experience, Educate, Create Existence and Energetic promotion. Mr. Lapala expressed that the digital move undertaken by banks has increased the liability on their side in retail banking sector. Rules and regulations bind the bank’s digital move.

The panel chair then concluded the session by sharing his views on the important aspects that were discussed. Overall the session was very interactive and an enlightening one for the students.

The post lunch session was finance oriented based on the theme "Vision 2020: Innovating towards a Better Financial Health". The panel chair was Prof. Dr. Sanjay Dhir and the panelists for the session were:

•    Ms. Pooja Aggarwal, SVP & Circle Head, Delhi NCR, Birlasoft
•    Mr. Soumen Mukreji, Sr. Director, Deloitte
•    Mr. Shobhit Khare, VP-Equity Research, MotilalOswal
•    Mr. Sugata Sircar, CFO and Country Finance Partner, Schneider Electric

The session took off with an introductory talk by all the panelists, starting with Mr. Shobit Khare, an alumnus of the department, sharing his experience in the field of stock market and also mentioning few statistics of the Indian economy focused on the GDP and the amount of savings the nation is holding with itself. Then Mr. Soumen Mukreji, presented his views on the future of finance in a digital age. He stressed upon the six core themes impacted by global mega-trends with social media, mobile, analytics and cloud coming into play.Ms. Pooja Aggarwal then took over and put forward her views on the most debated topics ‘Make in India’ and ‘Jan Dhan Yojana’. Mr. Lalit Chopra being a retail banker, mentioned that this sector will never face a slow down, by stating the statistics regarding the scope in stock market and insurance.Mr. Rajiv Kapahi quoting his personal experiences stressed on the importance of college life where in friends play an important role in shaping one’s mindset towards a better collaborative future. Mr. Sugata Sircar discussed on the plan of China to move from an investment based economy to a consumption based economy in the coming years. Mr. Anand Krishna Rohatgi, also an alumnus of DMS, IIT Delhi discussed a few challenges that our country might face on its road to fulfill vision 2020.

The floor was then opened for questions by Prof. Dr. Sanjay Dhir and the management students brought up a wide range of questions on various current issues. The students of DMS, IIT Delhi extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire panel for taking their time out and sharing their valuable views.
