CII to organize seminar on Skills Development in Outsourcing, BFSI and Consumer goods sector

Given the looming skills-crisis in the country, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is organizing a full day event on developing skills in the fast growing sectors like Outsourcing, Banking and Finance sector and Consumer goods and services sector.

The seminar will be held in New Delhi on May 16. India's leading management portal MBAUniverse.com, and its group publication M NOW magazine, are the media partners of this initiative. 

The seminar will be addressed by a host of industry experts. The highlight of the seminar will be the address by talent management and human resource expert Dr. Peter Cappelli of the Wharton School. Dr. Cappelli is the George W. Taylor Professor of Management at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and Director of Wharton's Center for Human Resources. Dr. Peter Cappelli was named one of the 25 most influential people in the field of human capital by Vault.com. Dr Cappelli is the author of the book, "Talent on Demand: Managing Talent in an Age of Uncertainty."

The inaugural session will host an address by Fortis Group's Shivinder Mohan Singh. Mr. Shivinder Mohan Singh, is the Director, Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited. He is one of the principal promoters of Fortis Healthcare & SRL Ranbaxy. Amit Bhatia, Founder & CEO of Aspire will deliver the address on the topic of 'Talent on Demand'. Aspire is a human capital management firm that helps corporates in talent sourcing, selection and training.

The seminar will feature three roundtable discussions. The Outsourcing RoundTable with focus on ITO, BPO and KPO areas will be chaired by Rajnish Virmani, President & COO- Reliance BPO; Vijay Bharadwaj, Head-HR, Dell; Anirudh Limaye, Chief People Officer, WNS; Nitin Seth, Head McKinsey Knowledge Centre; Ashish Gupta, COO, Evalueserve; Ashish Sinha, Coo- RocSearch. 

The Financial Services RoundTable will be chaired by Ravi Krishnan, MD- Goldman Sachs. Other speakers on this panel will include B. Anant, Head-HR, ICICI Lombard; Awdhesh Krishna, Head- HR, Lehman Brothers; and Nitin Aggarwal, COO- Pipal Research.

The Consumer RoundTable will focus on sectors like Retail, FMCG and Hospitality.

It will be chaired by Sandeep Kohli, Chairman GIRC. Other speakers include Dwaraka Nath, Human Resources , Max Group; Harpreet Dutta, Head-HR,Fortis Healthworld; and Manish Chordia, VP, WNS Knowledge Services.

CII has been playing an active part in skill development arena. In Oct 2004, CII had launched a nation-wide 'Skills Development Initiative' in India to provide internationally benchmarked skills to the current and potential Indian work force. This is with a view to train large numbers of people across sectors, in various skills, to meet national requirements for skilled workers. This seminar is another step in raising the awareness about the skills deficit in the country.
