NMIMS launches new programs for pharma industry

Indian pharmaceuticals industries and need of qualified human resources in the area of 'drug regulatory activities' and 'pharma marketing' is growing.

Considering this growth, School of Pharmacy & Technology Management (SPTM) of SVKM's NMIMS University, Mumbai has launched one-year full time Diploma Programs in Drug Regulatory Affairs (PGDRA) and P G Diploma in Pharmaceuticals Marketing (PGDPM). 

Similarly, to fulfil the needs of the pharmaceutical industry with particular reference to skilled manpower in areas like Analytical, Quality Control, Pharm Microbiology and Bioinformatics, SPTM has launched a two year full time M.Sc. Program in Applied Pharm Analysis / Applied Pharma Bioinformatics and Applied Pharm Microbiology. 

One Year Full Time P G Diploma in Drug Regulatory Affairs (PGDRA) and PG Diploma in Pharmaceutical Marketing (PGDPM) are open for candidates with B.Pharm or M.Pharm qualification with a minimum 55% marks. 

The selection procedure includes admission test and personal interview to be held at NMIMS, Mumbai. The test is scheduled for June 22 in Mumbai. The classes will commence from August 1. The intake is limited to 20 candidates per specialization.  

Talking about the two year full time M.Sc Programme in Applied Pharm Analysis/ Applied Pharm Bioinformatics/ Applied Pharm Microbiology, NMIMS says, "This MSc programme has been prepared taking into consideration the needs of the  Pharmaceutical industry with particular reference to skilled manpower in areas like Analytical, Quality Control, Pharm Microbiology and Bioinformatics. Currently the post graduate courses in Science stream face difficulty in placement and employability due to lack of Pharma industry specific skills."  

Candidates with B.Sc/ M.Sc with Chemistry/Microbiology or Biotechnology (as a major subject) or B.Pharm with a minimum of 55% marks are eligible to apply.   Students with Pharmaceutical Industry experience shall be preferred, informs NMIMS.
