The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A), has done it yet again!

IIM-A has received accreditation by EQUIS (European Quality Improvement System), the leading international accreditation body for International business schools, thus becoming the first Indian B-school to receive this honor.

Happy with the recognition, IIM-A said, "The EQUIS accreditation has ensured IIM-A's place as the first and the only business school in India to obtain international accreditation. IIM-A becomes one among the 113 EQUIS-recognized schools in the world, from 33 countries to have attained international accreditation, making it a truly Global Business Management School."

Commenting on the approval, Prof. Julio Urgel, Director of Quality Services, EFMD said, "Today is a special milestone for EQUIS with the very first accreditation being awarded in India and new schools joining the EQUIS community from China and the USA. We embrace the diversity all the new schools bring to the network and believe this is what makes EQUIS the most sophisticated and innovative improvement and benchmarking tool available for management education."

Apart from IIM-A, EFMD also awarded accreditation to Antai College of Economics & Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, PR China and Bentley College, USA.

EQUIS is the leading international system of Quality Assessment, Quality Improvement and Accreditation of Higher Education Institutions in management administration. The EQUIS Scheme has been designed with special focus on all the activities of business schools that aim to meet international standards of quality. The fundamental objective of EQUIS is to raise the quality of management education worldwide.

While accrediting management schools, EQUIS looks for balance between high academic quality and the professional relevance provided by close interaction with the corporate world. A strong interface with the world of business is therefore, as much a requirement as a strong research potential. Its scope covers all programmes offered by an Institution, from the first degree to the PhD, including non-degree programmes.
