Vignana Jyothi Institute of Management (VJIM), a premier B-school, held “Business Conclave 2015” at Hotel Radisson, Gachibowli. The Conclave, a student driven annual event, has become a popular and regular platform for professionals from reputed organizations and academic institutions to deliberate on contemporary business management themes and make suggestions.

The theme this year was “Preparing People for VUCA World”.  The panel members included eminent professionals like Mr. Tejaswy Rama: VP (Mkts) – Ernst&Young, Dr. Suresh Kumar: VP (HR) – Aurobindo Pharma, B.C. Mouli: Head-Learning and Development, Cyient, P. Krishna Sai: Sr. Director – HR – Head for Formulations BU – Dr. Reddys Labs.  The panel discussions were moderated by Dr. G. R. Reddy, Founder and Chief Facilitator, Husys Consulting. The discussions were mainly centered on how VUCA has become the order of the day for businesses.

Companies can lose their edge overnight if not alert and resilient. In the past, scenario planning was a powerful tool in a strategist’s arsenal, but today, scenarios have changed at an exponential rate and no longer progress in a step-by-step linear fashion. Organizations today face a simple choice between getting bogged down by their own inertia or to embrace the change and adapt to it with agility. This calls for new models, fresh thinking and innovative approaches. Like an orchestra, where all instruments have to hit the right note at the right time or risk pandemonium, businesses will only succeed if they can keep up with trends.

The discussions were enthusiastic and threw up some valuable suggestions that will help managers prepare people for a VUCA world by enabling them to modify their personal styles to the context and to work with the bigger picture in mind.

The discussions were followed by a Q&A session. More than a hundred senior level executives from reputed corporates attended the conclave and raised interesting queries making the discussions more purposeful.

Dr. D. N. Rao, President, Vignana Jyothi, Mr. Sarath Gopal, General Secretary, Vignana Jyothi, Mr. K. Harish Chandra Prasad, Chairman Governing Council , VJIM and Dr. Kamal Ghosh Ray, Director, along with the faculty of VJIM also attended the conclave.
