Delhi University's Department of Business Economics inaugurates its Business Economics Association

The Department of Business Economics, University of Delhi, South Campus kick started its year of events with the inaugural of the Business Economics Association on July 31, 2008.

Two eminent speakers from the industry were invited to interact with the students, on the occasion. 

The first address was by Mr. Ram Nomula, currently the Chief Executive, Media & Entertainment Services, Moserbaer. Mr. Nomula who steered Moserbaer to new height, has experience of working in India and abroad. He recently moved to India after working in USA for about forty years.  

The second session was by Ms. Jyoti Vij who is the Director, Financial Sector & Corporate Laws, FICCI. She is an 1990 batch alumnus from the institute. Ms Vij shared her experience of working in the apex body of Business and Economics in India and given invaluable inputs on how to reach to consensus on various policy issues.  

Both speakers emphasized the importance of having respect for different cultures, perseverance, hard work and dedication.  

Founded in 1973, the Department of Business Economics launched the Masters Program in Business Economics, MBE, patterned on a similar program conducted by Harvard Business School. The Department also offers the Bachelors, M.Phil and Ph.D. programs. 
The Master of Business Economics programme is designed to offer a set of courses in Business, Economics and Quantitative Techniques. Dr. Aradhna Agrawal, HOD-Department of Business Economics, says, "The fusion of business subjects with relevant courses in Economics and Quantitative Techniques equips students with academically founded knowledge enabling them to take an analytical approach rather than merely managerial approach to business problems."
