A group of 32 Executive MBA students of Mc Donough School of Business, Georgetown University, USA visited Indian Institute of Management (IIM L), Lucknow Noida campus and met students of International Programme in Management for Executives (IMPX).

The objective of the visit on August 11, 2008 was to give both groups of students a chance to network and discuss cases in the area of business strategy.

On the occasion, a two hour joint case-discussion on ITC e-Choupal was held at IIM-L Noida campus which was facilitated by Prof Stanley D Nollen, Mc Donough School of Business and Prof M Akbar, Professor of Strategic Management & Entrepreneurship, IIM Lucknow.

As the case goes, ITC's Agri Business Division, one of India's largest exporters of agricultural commodities, has conceived e-Choupal as a more efficient supply chain aimed at delivering value to its customers. The e-Choupal model has been designed to tackle the challenges posed by the unique features of Indian agriculture, characterised by fragmented farms, weak infrastructure and the involvement of numerous intermediaries, among others.

Prof Punam Sahgal, Dean, IIM L Noida campus told MBAUniverse.com, "This is a very innovative activity for the student of both institutes. Both the groups have an opportunity to exchange their thoughts."

Prof Nollen was very excited to see the interaction with both groups and said, "We feel glad to see our students as well as IPMX students have discussed strategies in a single classroom. This will guide the students to know the business strategies, opportunities and perspective for both of the countries."

"Our visit at IIM L is a part of one week visit in India. During the week we will also visit other B-schools and industries in India. We will visit organisations like International Management Institute, New Delhi, Apollo Hospital, manufacturing industries and more", added Prof Nollen.

IPMX is the full time, one-year residential executive programme was launched in April this year at the Indian Institute of Management Lucknow-NOIDA Campus. The Executive MBA Program of Mc Donough School of Business is an MBA degree designed especially for mid-career professionals who would like to enhance their knowledge and management skills in the rapidly changing business environment.
