Dr APJ Abdul Kalam to deliver the convocation address at NITIE Mumbai

Mumbai based National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE) will be holding its fourteenth convocation on August 16, 2008 in Mumbai.

Bharat Ratna and Former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam will preside over the function and deliver the convocation address.

Dr Kalam will also hand out the coveted Industrial Management, Information Technology Management and Industrial Safety & Environment Management diplomas to the 2008 Batch. He will also address the present batches, Class of 2009 and 2010, currently pursuing their MBA.

Said Prof Neelima S Naik of NITIE, “It’s a matter of great pride that eminent scientist and former President of India Dr APJ Abdul Kalam has agreed to address the fourteenth Convocation at NITIE.”

“Meeting Dr. Kalam as a student carries even more significance as living up to his expectations is a mighty ordeal,” says Anubhav Jain, a first year student of PGDIM at NITIE.

Dr. Kalam has always been involved with students of every sphere. In his words, “The youth is indeed a powerful resource and they are contributing to all sectors of the economy. Youth power indeed becomes more powerful, if every youth has the confidence 'I can do it' and this will result in 'we can do it,' leading to 'the nation will perform.”

Established in 1963 by Government of India with a mission to raise productivity of Indian industry and to best utilize limited resources, NITIE now run a series of professional courses. NITIE currently has 4 full time Post Graduate programmes along with a fellowship programme equivalent to a Ph.D. Along with Training and Management, today NITIE is engaged in Industrial Consultancy, Sponsored projects and applied research.
