IIM Ahmedabad to organize Doctoral Colloquium for FPM students

Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) will be organizing the 2nd IIM-A Doctoral Colloquium on January 5-6, 2009 at IIM-A Campus.

According to the information shared by IIM-A, “IIM-A Doctoral Colloquium is an international meet of Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) students involved in research in the field of management and allied disciplines. It is a great opportunity for FPM students to discuss their research work and receive feedback on their work from their peers and distinguished academicians from the field of management.”

According to IIM-A, “The main objectives of the event are to initiate networking amidst management researchers, to share knowledge and learn from each other and to explore emerging areas of research in management.”

The colloquium involves extensive participation of faculty members from IIM-A as well as from other top management institutes as reviewers, presenters and members of jury.

All students who are currently enrolled in any full time doctoral or PhD. program in any discipline of management is eligible to participate in this event. According to IIM-A, “The participants will get a chance to participate in a series of workshop, panel discussion and other events on a wide variety of topics like theory building and publishing facilitated by distinguished Indian and international experts.” The last date for receiving abstracts for the meet is September 30, 2008.

Last year the colloquium attracted eleven participants from outside institutes, including one international student from Duke University, and twelve participants from with in IIM-A. The colloquium was inaugurated by the Director of IIMA Prof. Samir K. Barua and conducted on January 3-4, 2008. The colloquium also attracted eminent researchers in the field of management from abroad like Prof. Ajay Kohli (Emory University), Prof. Dipankar Chakravarti (University of Colorado, at Boulder) and Prof. Sushil Vachani (Boston University).
