IIM Bangalore is all set to host EXIMIUS, its first ever entrepreneurship summit on August 22-23, 2008.

The summit, organized by the Entrepreneurship & Innovation cell in conjunction with NSRCEL and supported by NASSCOM, will see IIM Bangalore become a hub for entrepreneurs, both aspiring and successful, college students, corporate leaders and notable academics.  There will be a gamut of events ranging from seminars to challenging business competitions and innovation contests, aimed at maximum audience learning and participation, informs IIM Bangalore.

Says IIM Bangalore, "With entrepreneurship increasingly becoming a preferable option for young graduates, EXIMIUS aims to celebrate and promote the spirit of entrepreneurship, and start a new tradition in the process."

The seminar series at EXIMIUS is aimed at educating budding entrepreneurs not only about technological innovations and possibilities, but also about investment criteria utilized by the venture capital (VC) firms. Qualcomm and Yahoo will be giving the audience an insight into the future of technology and Sequoia Capital will anchor the session on VC funding for startups.

EXIMIUS will also be a battleground of ideas as participants fight it out in the various competitions taking place.

InGen, sponsored by Educomp, looks for ideas that can revolutionize the education system and capitalize on the vast opportunities available in this heretofore untapped sector. At stake is a chance to get full funding for the business idea and lucrative cash prizes.

Genesis simulates what a real funding meeting with a VC will be like as entrepreneurs and VCs are brought together in a speed-dating format. Budding entrepreneurs have to convince the VCs about the viability of your idea within a span of three minutes, and walk away with a cool cash prize.

Innovation Challenge, sponsored by Yahoo, the Innovation partner, invites entries that will Transform India in the coming years. Shortlisted candidates will present to a highly qualified panel of judges in front of an enthusiastic audience.

Capping the summit, will be a Panel Discussion on Social Entrepreneurship that will feature eminent speakers who have dedicated their lives to this cause. Mr DR Mehta, former chairman of SEBI who is now the chief patron of Jaipur Foot, Varun Sahni of Acumen Fund and Rajdeep Sehrawat, Vice President, NASSCOM will address the panel.
