Paris-based ESSEC, which has been offering management education since 1907, has begun celebrations for its centenary year. The celebration will be focused around 100 events.

Much like the Olympic flame, the ESSEC “flame” will be carried around the world as a unifying symbol that will connect every event and enable participants to join in the celebrations, with the series of events mirroring the diverse, international nature of the ESSEC community. The grand finale will be in mid-December in France.

The focus of event is not only celebration of its present, but also the past and future. At the official launch of ESSEC's centenary celebrations Pierre Tapie, Dean & President, ESSEC Business School, said, “Whilst the organization of so many events focuses our minds firmly on the present, we also find ourselves either looking back to the very roots of our School or, conversely, looking ahead to a bright future.”

Isabelle Rey-Millet, Centenary Campaign Manager, and executive, MBA Alumna, decided upon an all-unifying concept: “100 years – 100 events”. In order to promote the concept both inside and outside the ESSEC community, a campaign slogan was also devised: “Celebrating our Centenary… and our future together!” Rey-Millet says, “We want everyone to feel involved in the celebrations – the campaign slogan puts this idea across nicely”.

The events have been planned includes humanitarian, cultural and sporting activities, as well as conferences and seminars on themes of social importance. Through this, they are offering a platform for the talents and values of a school that has been devoted to training future managers from across the world who share the spirit of innovation and enterprise required to shape the business world of tomorrow.

The headline event will take place at the Carrousel du Louvre in central Paris on 2 June, a date of great symbolic importance as it is very close to the date the school was created 100 years ago: 30 May 1907. This event will feature performances from ESSEC graduates, students, professors and staff, as well as representatives of the Maison des ESSEC Alumni Association, and corporate and academic partners.

ESSEC has also come out with an international newsletter as part of its celebrations. The first newsletter was released this week.
