The Knowledge Management (KM) India, the knowledge summit of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) is going to be held on November 5-7, 2008 in Mumbai with the theme of 'Enhancing Competitiveness of India through Knowledge Management'.

Former President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam will deliver the Keynote Address at the summit. MBAUniverse.com is the Official Management Portal of this summit.

Mr K V Kamath, President, CII and Managing Director &, Chief Executive Officer, ICICI Bank Ltd will deliver the special address and Mr Ashok Soota, Past President, Confederation of Indian Industry and Chairman and Managing Director, MindTree Limited will deliver the welcome address.

According to CII, "KM India is an endeavor undertaken to create a more robust Indian ecosystem, that generates economic value through the effective harnessing of knowledge and intellectual capital, within knowledge-based organizations and industries. The KM Summit this year will focus on the on the practice of KM in large enterprises that have already grown far beyond such early stages and how to enhance enterprise knowledge-driven culture."

The other speakers at the summit will include Debra Amidon, Founder & CEO, ENTOVATION International Ltd; C Banerjee, Director, General Confederation of Indian Industry; William C. Miller, President, Global Creativity Corporation; Rory Chase, Managing Director, Teleos; Debra R. Miller, Director, Global Dharma Center; Raj Datta, VP – KM, Mindtree Consulting Ltd., JK Suresh, Principal, Knowledge Manager & Head – KM, Infosys; Amit Khanna, Head – Knowledge Management, Tata Steel; Jayanta Chatterjee, Professor-IME & Design, IIT Kanpur; Amit Ranjan, Co-founder, SlideShare; Dr. Kavi Mahesh, Principal Consultant – KMGroup, Infosys and A Lata, KM Group.

The first session of Day 1 of the summit will have the theme of 'KM Strategy and Assessment' which will be chaired by Mr JK Suresh. The second session on the topic of 'Competencies and Culture building for Knowledge Organization' will be chaired by Mr Amit Khanna which will be further joined by Mr Debra R. Miller.

The keynote of the second day will be 'In the Knowledge Innovation Zone: Implications for India, the Region and Abroad. The keynote address of third session on the theme of 'Technology trends for managing Knowledge' will be delivered by Mr Debra Amidon, Founder & CEO, ENTOVATION International Ltd.

There will be also four Master Classes on the topic: Innovation Methodologies, KM in Manufacturing; Taking the Measure of KM: Metrics; Maturity and Benchmarking; and Creating a World-Class Knowledge Strategy. The Master Classes will be held by Mr William C. Miller, Mr Debra Amidon and Mr Rory Chase.

Defining the Knowledge Management domain, Wikipedia says, "Knowledge Management (KM) comprises a range of practices used an organisation to identify, create, represent, distribute and enable adoption of what it knows, and how it knows it. It has been an established discipline since 1995 [1] with a body of university courses and both professional and academic journals dedicated to it. Many large companies have resources dedicated to Knowledge Management, often as a part of 'Information Technology', 'Human Resource Management' or Business strategy departments. KM is a multi-billion dollar world-wide market. KM programs are typically tied to organisational objectives such as improved performance, competitive advantage, innovation, developmental processes, lessons learnt transfer (for example between projects) and the general development of collaborative practices."
