NIIT Imperia, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM C), has announced three programs for working professionals: on retail management, on management of software development and on financial reporting practices.

The programs’ durations will range between six months to one year. All programs will lead to a certification by IIM-C. According to NIIT Imperia, the course pedagogy will be a mix of lectures, case studies, group work and workshops for short periods on the IIM-C campus.

The Certificate Program in Management of Software Development (a 9-month-program) will be useful for IT professionals leading or managing software projects or facilities at any level -- or likely to do so shortly. People with two years’ relevant work experience are eligible.

The Retail Management Program is designed for working professionals in the organized retail sector. According to NIIT Imperia, senior professionals in the retail or allied sectors would also find the program useful because of its coverage of the theoretical principles of retail management. Candidates are required to have one year’s work experience in organized retail or two years’ in any other sector.

The Financial Reporting Practices Program will take into account US GAAP, IFRS and Indian GAAP; practicing finance professionals with 3 years’ relevant work experience may apply for this.

Candidates will have to take a Program Aptitude Test between 3rd March 2007 and 5th March 2007, which is administered online.

There is a common application and selection process for students applying for any number of programs. Selection is based on the application material and the performance in the Program Aptitude Test conducted by NIIT Imperia.

NIIT Imperia is an e-learning model that includes the features of conventional classroom education coupled with e learning management techniques. NIIT Imperia was launched last year, and it has already tied up with IIM-A, IIM-C and IIM-I.
